    KDL-40EX523, no picture, ticking/clicking T-Con

Sony KDL-40EX523 turns on and off just fine, back-lights are there, but I see no picture. I do see one 1 pixel wide white line on screen, all the way on the right edge of the screen, very first column of pixels.

When TV is on, the T-Con board (LJ94-16524A) is emitting repetitive ticking or clicking sound and goes away when TV turn off. I do have 12V on the board, fuse is fine. When I remove the two ribbon cables, the ticking is still there. I took an uneducated guess and bought another T-Con board. Same exact problem, but the line is not there with the second T-Con.

I had to buy this board from China as no one seems to have it in stock, so I am not sure about parts reliability. There was also small piece missing from one of the housings on the inductor, but the SMD seems to be fine.

    Any thoughts?

Disconnect the ribbon cable between the T-CON and the LCD panel to see if the clicking goes away, it does then more likely you have shorts circuit in the panel.

The broken part is the ferrite former for the inductor and with part of it missing, it will have an effect on it's value and could well stop the voltage converter working correctly.

Do you have 3.3V at VCC33

If not I'd be tempted to swap the inductor with the one from the old board.

Can't gaurantee it will resolve your problem.

It may be worth waiting to see what other's have to say.

VCC33 is reading 3.25V, and the inductor is reading 1.18V on all sides, same as original T-Con board.

What do you see on the screen if only one ribbon cable between the LCD panel and the T-CON is connected one at at time?

So are both Tcons giving you a ticking sound?

                    Re: KDL-40EX523, no picture, ticking/clicking T-Con

When I use only one ribbon cable at a time, with either T-Cons, I get nothing. Only back-lights.

Here is the only exception. With the original T-Con board, I see one 1 pixel wide white line on screen, all the way on the right edge of the screen, very first column of pixels. I see the line with the right ribbon cable connected, or both, not the left. I do not see this line with the second T-Con at any time.

See picture. The TV is upside down, that is why it looks like the line is on left, its on right side.

Yes, with the exception of the white line on the original T-Con.

the replacement board thats from china maybe a used faulty one too? let reece see if he can find the data sheet for ic2 as maybe a common failure on these boards
can you read the part number from ic2 on your boards?

It could be faulty, I never have too much luck with parts from China.

There are 3 ICs on the board:

                          ISL24835
                          IRZ
                          H1108BBB8

                          AMLCD
                          LQF6041T0B-Q1
                          1047KC018

                          SM4109
                          DA1105
                          SMBM016

If I have to replace either of the ICs, that's going to be a problem. I do not have proper tools or experience when it comes to replacing ICs that have multiple contact points on all 4 sides.
