    TC-P55GT30 7 blinks fixed

Drove 75 miles today to buy this tv for $100 only because I have the same tv as my main tv and I love it, also because I have a spare board for every board from the 55vt30 if ou guys remember has a bad panel.

The original owner had taken it apart and determined it was the SC board, he said.
I put in my good SC board without checking the old one. 7 blinks with the new.
So then I used the method tw2005 told me to use to check the buffers and sure enough the top buffer is shorted.
Put in the new buffer, took 15 minutes to realign the ribbons and she is alive.

Now the question is, can the buffer be repaired? Could it be the original SC board was good after all? I was afraid to put it back in because I didn want to short out either buffer.
When I check for resistance at sc2, it reads in the K's of ohms.
The known good sc board reads in the Mega ohms.

I suppose I can send the sc board to have it checked and if needed, have it fixed as a spare.

I found out the su board can be fixed too but it's expensive. Will it get more expensive as time goes on, due to components becoming scarcer?

You should be able to tell if the sc is bad simply checking for shorted 30f131 rjp30h2 rjp64g4. If the board is good maybe sell it and invest in another su as it's easier to repair the sc. How many chips are shorted on the su and what are they ? Very good chance the tracks will get torn if you have never done it before. I would practice removal on other dead buffers not to be repaired.

Why not use the SC50 jumper? If you get 7 blinks without the SU/SD buffers then you know its bad. If it turns on you still got a spare.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I checked them last night after my initial post and 5 of them are shorted, so it needs repair.

It was all put back together and I didn't want to have to open it back up. There are like 100 screws on that thing.

              How do you check those?

                I have 1 shorted RJP63G4.
                3 shorted RFN20.
                3 shorted 30F131.
                1 shorted C08N25.
                1 shorted RJP63G4.

I have good 30F131 and RFN20 at my disposal but not the C08N25 or RJP63G4.
I also am not comfortable soldering them on.

I've been watching this hot air station, because right now all I have is a dual setting heat gun from harbor freight. What do you guys think of it?

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                  TCL 49S405 double image
                  by howardc64
LCD displays a 2nd image slighty offset vertically. And multiple pairs of black lines along the bottom. Probably common as google "TCL 49S405 double image" pulls up this ifixit post ( link ) with identical ( nearly, but their fault seems to be on the other half of the panel than mine ) problem without solution.

This one looks to be a more difficult to diagnose because most? of TCON seems integrated ( CSOT BGA on buffer baord) into the left panel edge board ( looking from rear of TV) There are 2 buffer boards for each 1/2 of the screen. Main connects to the left buffer board...

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
                  by huj3r
                  Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

                  > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...
