Hello, my Vizio E601i-A3 suffered a lightning strike thru my cable box (Comcast replaced it) taking out the TV. No power, wont do a thing. After replacing the power supply board with no success I am contemplating replacing the main board. Theory is that the power surge took out the EEPROM through the HDMI connection. Do you think that I am on the right track?

Re: Vizio E601i-A3 Lightning Struck thru HDMI
Definately mainboard problem. Powersupply is probably still ok. Might keep it as a spare?
Eeprom might still be ok. Think the cpu/hdmi controller etc are fried.I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60! -
Re: Vizio E601i-A3 Lightning Struck thru HDMI
Thank You so very much for your assistance. OK then, I guess that I will order a new main board for this TV unless anyone else has experienced this problem before with this model Vizio. Others have suggested the T-Con board but I don't think that the T-Con is my problem.Comment

You had a nearby strike that elevated the potential of their coax, which "equalized" to your elec service gnd, via the HDMI cable, thru the box and your tv.
The missing outdoor bonding jumper, per NEC 250.94 and 820.100, was "substituted" by not the box nor the tv, but the HDMI cable between the two, which served as that "jumper."
The coax went up to a different potential than your elec svc gnd, came in on the coax into their box, down the HDMI cable into the tv (straight to the power supply via the mainboard), and out the tv via the EGC/GND/third wire of its power cord. This current went into your elec svc's ground bus and out the grounding electrode system.
But for comcast not bonding their coax per NEC code, your stuff wouln't have been fried. They owe you a TV- you shouldn't be out for board swapping (and time) because they were grossly negligent. Been a problem with them since the '80's, and they still don't even get it.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by lolich112Hey, I have this GPU (MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GAMING X TRIO 12G). After a lightning struck all dispaylports don´t work anymore but the one hdmi does in fact function properly. Has anyone a suggestion, what the error may be? Is it the GPU core itself that is damaged or is it a simple replaceable chip that is fried?

Just starting out in electronics repair and teaching myself as I go.
I have here a Corsair RM650 ATX PSU, which I'm treating as a learning project that if successful may be used in my PC.
Fuse was blown, probable power surge from lightning, followed the circuit and found, a dead relay and all the diodes and resistors around the bridge rectifier shorted. Rectifier and MOSFETs seem fine on the LCR.
Also found these tiny diodes on the other side, a few shorted, the rest seem fine. But they're not all marked as Zener on the pcb. So I'm unsure what these should be replaced with.... -

by mrtekHi.
picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED... - Loading...
