Is the diffuser in the LCD neccesary( mine turned yellow causing a yellow tint)?

So, finally figured out the problem with the Sony 46z4100.It's diffuser (thickest one) was completely yellow and so i was getting a yellow tint on screen.I can't find any information on where to get a replacement or a substitube. Can i run the tv without the thick one ? If not where can i find one or is there a substitute that i can find at like home depot or something?.

    Thanks

Yes it is if not you wont have uneven light across the display and you will see the spaces between the ccfls or Leds.

      Diffuser/LPG for UE50NU7022KXXH
      by V3dran
      Hello,
I'm trying to repair a UE50NU7022KXXH with a cracked diffuser/lpg and now also with burned leds
There are 4/5 white spots on the bottom that are not visible since the left side is dark now so I want to change the diffuser/lpg

Looking the samsung spare parts, I see that there is a DIFFUSER PLATE and a LPG so I'm wondering what is really broken?

      generic diffuser?
      by linuxrunner
i have a 65" samsung UN65TU700DFXZA. my kid sprayed cooking oil from a spray/mist bottle onto the screen (2yr old thinking she was cleaning). oil ran down and seeped under the bezel on the bottom of the screen. It appears to have soaked/wicked into the diffuser i have a light colored splotch along the bottom of the screen that grew upwards over a day or two.

i have not disassembled yet but judging by the way it wicked up it looks like its been absorbed into the diffuser so i don't have a lot of hope of cleaning it.

i checked Samsung parts site but they don't...

      Cutting new light diffuser question
      by Storyteller12
I have a Samsung 40” NU series tv with the melted cracked diffuser I’m fixing. I replaced the backlights and I’m planning on cutting a new diffuser out of a 55” diffuser that just melted but didn’t crack.

Question is do I have to keep the top edge factory for the diffusing to work properly or does it matter?

only get one shot at cutting it so wanted to make sure....

      Samsung NU series diffuser

I replaced a diffuser because the other one was melted I accidentally scratched it. And now it shows up in the picture which I thought it would. Is anyone here have a way to get the scratch off (doubt but might as well ask) or has anyone done this and flipped the diffuser shield because I think it's scratched on the front I can't really remember but is anyone had success flipping it and then the scratch might go away?

It shows up in the light in the picture

      Philips 37pfl560: Yellow picture
      by madyoyo
      HI.

I have a weird problem with an old Philips 37pfl560 TV i put out of storage: the picture have a noticeable yellow hue, and its not caused by the settings (did a factory reset). I've never seen this before. I will try to get a photo with a real camera, with my phone its hard to see because of automatic white balance, but in real live the whites are really yellow.

Anyone have an idea of what can cause this? Can CCFL tubes get "warmer" with time? This tv have several analog inputs,so its nice for retrogaming....
