    NEC PlasmaSync 60XP10

Please excuse my amateur noobiness here. I have the aforementioned plasma screen. It won't turn on when cold. If it's warm it will turn on and off fine and stay on. When I try to turn it on the power supply clicks and I also here a click in the main board then the red LED comes back on. The second click seems to be a circuit protection shutting the unit back off due to a fault. If I unplug the four wire harness from the power supply, which seems to be the main power out to the Ysus, the Green LED illuminates and stays lit. I've also found that if I leave that plugged in and unplug BOTH the small wire harness plug from the Ysus to the XRLBT board AND the wire harness plug from the Ysus to the Zsus, the Green LED will illuminate and stay on.

Any ideas or steps to take to further troubleshoot? I do have a DVOM.

Thanks in advance for the help. I have attached a picture of the back of my screen if it helps. The arrows are the two plugs that I unplug to get the Green LED to stay on.

That 1st 'click' makes me think the Pwr Bd is OK and the 2nd 'click' suggests to me a problem in the Y-SUS Bd.

Before I replace it I'm curious as to why it would work Ok with the Y sus connected but the left lower buffer and X sus disconnected from it?. is it normal for all the power to flow through the Y sus to the X sus?

How can you possibly see that from that picture? Do you think that would cause the problem with the unit working with the Z sus and buffer unplugged from the Ysus?

I have good eyes and them caps blown out are common for this chassis. They are 3300uf or something ? Do you know how to diagnose and replace caps ?

I can solder and replace. I can use the ohm then voltage charge and discharge test but that's it. I can buy the whole board for $38.00 too. But any advice on a better way to diagnose and replace would be great. My DVOM is a cheap Innova 3320.

                              All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

The Tv Was Working Decently, Maybe Once In A Blue Moon, I Had To Unplug And Plug It Back In, As The Tv Would Just Shut Down And The Standby LED Light Would Come On And Stay On. If You Tried To Turn The Set Back On, The LED Standby Light Would Blink Rapidly Until You Released The Remote Button. Too Fast For Flash Codes. Once Plugged Back In, The Set Would Work Fine, Sometimes For Months. I Took The Back Off Of It, As The Was Some Distorted Pixels On The Right Side About 1/2...

                              Greetings all!

Originally this set had the usual messed up video symptoms such as: horizontal lines, weak, grainy video, bottom and top of picture differ in intensity of problem. It also seemed to slow to turn on or show the messed up picture.

Seemed like must be YScan/buffer board failure. Ordered buffer boards from my distributor which were supposed to be original/new and also from another distributor, I ordered the YSUS because I wanted to replace it for preventative maintenance. (also, the YSUS had a bulged cap, so there was even more reason to suspect it could...

                              Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:
