Vizio M3D550KDE Black screen, rust problem?

Hello,

First time asking a question, so please stay with me.
Purchased the above Tv 2 days ago and decided to try and fix it. Screen is black, but lit up. Top half of the screen is not as bright. Powers on, but there is nothing on the screen.

Took the back panel off and I noticed some weird rust or corrosion where the tcon board attaches to the panel.

Does that mean the entire screen is shot, or are there pieces I can replace? I don't want to buy a bunch of parts to try and fix it if the screen is the problem.

Oh, and no sound.

Here is a picture of the ribbon. That's the tcon board at the top of the picture.

Here is another picture of the ribbon. Took the TV apart and found that the ribbon leads directly to a board that's wired into the screen. Assuming this means the TV is toast.

Looks like liquid got in there and shorted it out. Beyond repair.

Crap.
So my best option would be to part out the boards? Just not sure where I'd sell them.

Death by windex.. ugh.
Sell them on ebay,you will get decent money for the main board and t-con.
Could strip the panel and sell the LED strips too.
