    TV still working...
    I replaced also 30F131 4pcs...they were SC all 4 of them...
    new parts were marked 1412...mounted in last 12 months also on multiple plasmas...
    they were all measure 1-2Mohm on reverse polarity C-E(- to C and + to E) on 20deg C.
    TV-s never come back...so I supose they work :-)
    Better to pay attention to bake IGBT-s before soldering...I had many problems with particular components before baking...
    I'd bake them on 70deg C 24 hours.

    Anyway....I think it's time to move away from these 30F131....what do you suggest as a equvalent?? RJP30H2A???
    any comments?

      Hi,

      Hopefully this is the right thread for this. I am trying to fix a TPNA5351 (SC?) board. It appeared that this was the problem since there was a short a SC2 where it plugs into the power board.

      I replaced 4 of the 30F131's all of which seemed to be shorted. Before plugging the board back in, I checked SC2 again. No short.

      Plugged the TV in. Turned it on. 14 blinks. Unplugged. All 3 30F131's are now shorted again.

      Does this sound like a power board problem or is there something else on the SC board I should be looking at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        After a bit of digging, it looks like the mosfet at Q600 (C08N25) should also be replaced since it can blow the 30F131's if it's bad.

          hi all please be aware fairchild igbt that seems to work on these sets is not long term fix,i have done numerous boards,i am sticking orignal panasonic gt30f131 no returns (touchwood) fgd igbt not long term fix fellow techs thought warn you all

            I have used fgd4536 on at least 30 SC and SN boards never a problem or a return.
            I have also found a use for them on some Samsung plasma tvs, and they have never come back to me.
            If you want to use expensive, hard to get, way to often fake igbt's, then use them.
            How can the fgd's that can handle more voltage and amperage be sub-par?

              Hi Afiz aka .microtech/ proman, to say you have had no returns on your board repairs and I assume your repair kits did make me laugh, as I have had no end of failed board sent to me after your repairs or kits have been use and failed. what does your add say "my warranty ends when your tv shows a picture" or in most cases a small flash from the screen and board.For your information the GT30F131 were not produced by Panasonic but by Toshiba. Most of us on here now use the Fairchild FGD4536 as replacements and have no problems, infact your failed repairs have been fixed and return working by using them

                  So you can smell it over in Australia TW, I have to say it is really strong over here in the UK and I think tvtimmy has also had a whiff across the pond in USA

                        sorry guys to offend you (flocko) seems everyone gone personal on me ,the kits i supply are the 1s same as other suppliers sell,i know they are toshiba mosfets,as a Panasonic account holder and have few insurance contracts i do,and worked for Panasonic for few years, 12 years ago,as there technical advice earthing points must be re soldered and and the screen earthing points where the earthing screws go must be cleaned .can cause intermittent arcing.other point screens are common with the tabs arcing causes the board to fail,john thanks for the chat (phone ) good luck everyone

                          digging up an oldish thread here but something that strikes me hasn't really been emphasised is the need for clean tight ground connections at the points where the SC board attaches to the chassis - I presume a degraded connection (showing as a blackened surface on both the solder trace and chassis pillar) is actually the root cause of stress that ends up damaging the IGBTs? Failing to address this effectively and refitting the board without ensuring clean contacts and tight screws will lead to subsequent board failure again.. is this everyone elses' thought?

                            For sure but trusting people doing this understand what they are doing it goes without saying.

                            Once those bolts start to loosen and the earth contact breaks, you're right it burns and blackens continuing to degrade until it fails.

                            I reflow all mine and then use the older style bolts or if i have none then torque those bolts up much firmer than originally in the factory.

                              Always scrape off as much carbon( black shit) from the mounting holes and then re-tin the solder on both sides. There may be a few you wont need to do on the top side. I also would clean off the screw holes and use lockwasher type replacements.

                                I just wondered how many failures some while after repair may be attributed to not following this so religiously rather than bad components?
                                Whilst some fail immediately due to bad parts, some reports also suggest that they come back failed some time later..

                                  I think I've done about 6 between myself , friends and relatives. Nothing to report. one which was the first I tried the Fairchilds and perfect so far after 4 years

                                    Hello guys, please help to identify failing part. I have a Panasonic VIERA TC-P46S30.
                                    Once it popped and there was 7 blinks.
                                    So I checked, Q403, Q402, and Q423 were short, replaced with fake 30F131, and pop, Q403, Q402, Q422, Q423 short, replaced with FGD4536TM from digi-key.
                                    TV turned on without pop. But no picture, all I can see, something like picture, more like pixel noise (it changes) if I pressing buttons on remote.
                                    Can you please help to fix?

                                      Hi Guys, I have been following this thread for a while, have come to the same conclusions about these IGBT's. 30F131 After a few failed repairs I realized some of these parts are suspect. I even received a dodgey pack of RJP30H2A. Anyway my point being that there is a great wee tester available that can test these IGBTs out of circuit before you use them. If, like me, you are repairing SC boards from Panasonic plasma TV's this device is invaluable. If you want to test these parts without this device, you can use a capacitance meter. If you can measure resistance on these 30F131's, then it is faulty. This meter only cost about $20 and will eliminate concerns you may have about fitting bogus/faulty/ dodgey parts. You can use the meter to test in-circuit components too, how-ever the meter does not have all the protections built in like most multi-meters do, so be sure to earth or neutralize any residual charge on the board/components before you measure anything. Have yet to try FGD4536TM, but hope to soon, and thanks to you guys who mentioned them as an alternative.

                                        I have one of those (can't resist a toy).

                                        That tester will tell you if what you bought is a igbt, mosfet, transistor, polarity of same etc., but it will NOT tell you if the parts are counterfeits or lower amp/volt/watt devices in the same series reprinted to reflect the higher spec'd device.

                                        I have run into crappy parts going back to the early 80s that worked for a while and crapped. Some were pure counterfeits, others reprinted.

                                        A curve tracer might be able to tell you more but you would need an OEM device to compare it to.

                                          I have a transistor tester also. My good ibgt's will read nes mos and some other stuff. A bad one will read only as a capacitor. I trust it and have never put in bad or fake part since using it, and I have found plenty.
