Sharp LC-70LE550U Color Issues

So I was given this TV for free, but there is an issue with the screen. I am not too familiar with TV repair, but I am pretty handy with most things. I took the back off and there is nothing obviously wrong that sticks out to me. Also, I disconnected the ribbon cables going to the T-con board one at a time. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you have a backlight issue 1st and then a T-CON issue 2nd.

Looks like a side tab bond issue discussed quite a bit of late.

Why not do some research on the set before making a thread.... But I agree with DB on this issue.

Thanks DB! Looks like the same issue that I am dealing with. I will do a little more research on removing those bonded tabs. Even if it didn't work I have no money ties up on this set, so it's worth a try! I will let you know what happens?

Reecey, I did try and research this issue as much as I could. I could not find anyone with the same display issues so I thought I would ask.

you have a problem with tab driver on the side were its black......and u need to removed those tabs.. go to the link at the bottom to give u and i dea..

How is this not a failed backlight ? It passed the tcon test and the image still looks good to me on the dark side though it's hard to see on my mobile.

Only because there is a picture but dark down one side which seems very much like what has been discussed on the threads regarding side tab issues on these large sets.

Also from his pictures of removing each ribbon the backlights do appear to be on. One half, clear picture the other half, bright green.

iirc the image only looks similar to this after removing the drive signal to the side with the bad tabs. Without doing so these tabs prevent the set from even starting.

I could be wrong but I'd hate to see him rip off his driver tabs without being certain first of course.

actually the first three pictures look more like the lower corner ribbon cable has been disconnected on the dark side. "Typically", this then allows the set to produce the picture shown.

The poster would be wise to double check things and if possible feed the set some color bar pattern which will readily show issues.
