    Lg 42pc3d weird picture.

I got this lg 42pc3d with bad picture. I replaced the zsus as the other lg's I had all had zsus problems and the screen kind of looked like this.
But with the used working zsus there is no change. Picture looks the same with the zsus plugged in as it does unplugged.

Have you checked the fuse on the replacement ZSUS? My first guess would be that the replacement is also bad. The proof is in the fact that it looks the same with it unplugged.

I just checked it and indeed there was a bad fuse. I replaced the fuse. Now the tv no longer turns on. The relay clicks, from led flashed green a couple of times and goes back to red.
      Bad ysus?

Does it still turn on with the z-sus unplugged?

Yes. The picture I posted is with the zsus unplugged. I bet the zsus they sent isn't good.

Well if the fuse was blown on the new z-sus then it was blown for a reason.

Very rarely will replacing a fuse in a TV fix it.
Occasionally you may get lucky with pico fuses.

I got the tv from a guy that sent the zsus board to coppell to have it repaired. They replaced a fuse and an Ipm. When he got it back the tv still didn't work. So he replaced the logic board and y buffer.
I suspected that either he didn't screw all the screws in or coppell didn't repair it correctly so I ordered what was supposed to be a working board.

I agree but the seller on eBay sold the board as working. That's why I didn't check the fuses on it when I got it.

Z-SUS IPM is short-circuit (blowing the fuse initially) and needs replacement,--Not the control-board.
New fuse doesn't blow because the PSU sees the short and shuts down

                        You need YPPD-J018A-C IPM

Ok, I've contacted the seller on eBay about an exchange. I felt all along it was the zsus, just never expected to get a faulty one when it was listed as working.

Doesn't explain why the repaired one from a reputable company in the USA doesn't work. Life's mysteries I guess.

May well have been repaired--But, NO NEW IPM's exist--LG Never sold 'em separately!

ALL the IPM's Everywhere are recovered from used boards....

Your 'new' IPM could well have 20,000 hours on it--and be on its last legs due to Black-Pad Syndrome....

Thanks Alastair. I didn't know that. I'll keep that in mind when coming across these lg's from now on.

Better to try and repair the existing IPM.

Ive used FGPF4633 to repair the 42" IPM's providing the driver and transistor pair survived the short, and currently potching with the 50" ERC IPM with partial success....

Unfortunately I don't do any repairs like that. I keep to resistors, capacitors and othe easy stuff.
