    No. The x board connects to the power supply via y board. The only time get anything like normal is when I disconnect both y and x. Then I get a chime but no picture.

      If what you've said so far is accurate you have a failed X Main board which will have to be repaired or replaced.

      You can use the same continuity test on the legs of the devices screwed to the heatsinks. For three legged devices check if they beep in all combinations of leg touches. No ground screw just use the three legs of those devices.
