Panasonic Plasma 2011 SC board differences?

    Hi there;

I have a Panasonic TH-P46GT30Z that has the dreaded 7 blinks of death.
This is the second time this has happened in exactly the same way.
Once I have fixed the loose RF module on the A board then replacing the SC board (TNPA5335) will fix the problem.
I know because I have done this before.
But as we know you can't get an SC board for this model any more.

I have been given a Panasonic TH-P50ST30Z that has a broken panel.
The SC board looks the same except for an extra 190uF on the 50's bottom edge in a cutout next to the SC2 plug.

The boards have ID stickers on that say-

TXNSC1MVUZ46 in the case of the 46-GT30 and an "AH" stamp beside the board #
TXNSC11GGKB50 in the case of the 50-ST30 and a "BG" stamp

Is there a possibility that the SC board from the 50" will work in the 46"?
I can upload some pics if anyone wants to see.

It will work, just won't be matched to the size panel.

Capacitors and the inductor coils I would compare, that's generally the difference and the number of transistors used.

Keep the dead boards as you may find someone who can rebuild them.

You'll need to change over the ERC components or the board wont last long due to the extra strain due to ERC mis-match.

The film caps and the inductors will need to be swapped at the least...

As I don't have a service manual for the sets I have then I'm a little in the dark.
The 50" is at least in theory only 10% bigger than the 46" so hence I have been hopeful that it will just work.
I can see the extra cap that the board from the 50" has is on the Vsus bus between +V & ground.
I would have thought this was a good thing as it might provide more available current and if it wasn't needed then what the hey....couldn't hurt right?
But upon reading the an-1088 pdf that Alistair provided. In my limited understanding perhaps it is not a good thing after all. Perhaps I should remove it.
As for the inductors, I'll just have to try and compare them with an OHM meter.
One of our guys is more experienced in electronic repair so i'll ask him to supervise.
Rebuilding the dead board may be the way to go. But I will need some more $$ to send it away and as I'm a new dad with mum not working then things are tight. As long as I don't blow a different board it may be worth the risk.
I was kinda hoping a Panasonic service guru might know the boards and enlighten me.
I'll ponder this for a bit longer but don't be surprised if I post the same question again differently for more input.

I'd compare both boards and their parts, remove whatever parts aren't on the old board that's on the 50 inch tv board.Make sure the parts match up and connections, jumpers etc.It should work if the circuitry and parts are the same.

appears just that electrolytic is extra, the coils are the same

Easiest thing to do is Just Swap Over the Inductors And the Blue Film Caps from the original board to the replacement. The inductors may Look the same--but actually ARE they? a slight difference in diameter or coil wire spacing will change the inductance...

--What Letter is marked on them?

Change 'em-- You KNOW they are suited to the panel. I'm pretty certain--they WILL be different between the 46 and the 50. Will have More of a chance of working reliably than if you don't change these parts over if there's differences....

If you Dont change them and they Are different, There's a high likely hood of part stress and overheat--particularly in the ERC--which gets bloody hot anyway in most of 'em....

Not hard to do and only take ten mins--so why take the chance?

I did this to an older series SC, TNPA5105 just recently, a 42" replacement board now running a 50" screen.

Ah--fair enough! same parts then! Same caps too? guess they must be--be less critical than the coils I should think

I've got a spare 50" board the same version, compared it to photos and a manual for the 46GT30E plus the 50" parts list.

Closer than I expected but I did not check every little bit but the blue caps, inductors and large electros matched. Just has that additional 190uf.

On the image it also appears 1 less heatsink used in the 46, anything to save a penny I guess.

Ive got a 2011 50U30B (50S30) This set has no heatsinks at all! Looks as though the 30F131 have discoloured the board somewhat from heat.

This SC is OK though--Has a couple of Buffer-chips short in the set. Thinking of adding a large heatsink I saved from a LG 42PC1DA IPM to the bulk of the transistors,--bit like Fujitsu/Hitachi did on that 42" abortion they used to make....

Re: Panasonic Plasma 2011 SC board differences?

                        Good work everyone!
I can see the big coils on the right have a different letter on them "M" on the 50 & "K" on the 46 but otherwise look identical. If they have the same part # I'm ok with it.
The SC board from the 46 is a 2014 build and is covered with grey goo glue on the other coils so no visual clue there. same amount of heat sync.
Some of the resistors look a bit more grunty but same value.
tw2005 thanks for your work looking into the parts list. Finding anything on the 46" is rare so no surprise that you may not have the list for that.
                        I'll do a grid search when I've got a spare 30mins.
Hopefully the photos are good enough for your geeky pleasure if you want a look.

may have a point there, was wondering about the different letter stamp myself.

Too many versions of this damn board. I have not found an exact manual and the one I looked at I believe had BH version for a 46GT30E.

the coils in that matched the 50" and photos looked ok but looking again I think there is difference in the winding diameter

Hard to image a different panel being used but all too hard second guessing everything.

Heh having those two photos there make me fell like Clyde Tombaugh looking for Pluto....

Pity the quality doesn't show up well on the phone screen or I would have tried for some better shots.
I may have to find the calipers and make some measurements of those coils.
Glibly saying I don't care about them could get me into trouble.
Unfortunately I won't be back into the workshop today.
Stay posted I'll let you'll know what I find when I find it.
