looks to be same specs just 8 pin

On the DIP7, pin 6 is missing, on the DIP8 it's NC so snip that off

On the DIP7, pin 4 is NC, pin 5 is drain

On the DIP8 4 & 5 are drain so depending on the pcb mask you may be able to leave pin 4 if it's just going to a land of no connection or snip that off and pin 5 drain will match up with pin 5 drain of the DIP7 location

Hi Tw2005, guess what I have that exact Ic soldered on now. I snipped off pin 4 and pin 6 before starting this but the Tv wont even start with the J version installed looking at the data sheet they are slightly different. So it needs to be the JZ version will link data sheets.

It is important to match switching frequency, to match the magnetics and the control loop, and to select a part with the same start circuit (HV JFET block or series resistor)

Yesh its a Samsung PS60E550 the Ic is on the Ymain and is faulty.

You get a hit with BN81-04780A at CHS Interactive but appears to be the 8 pin "J" version but elsewhere they quote the "JZ" version DIP7.

Could there be something else wrong and it's not the IC you just installed?

Well I read a post by Tom and he also said the Ic is commonly known to fail. After freeze spraying the Ic direct the set worked so I presume its the fault. But with this other one the set does not work at all.
