    Samsung un40f6300 power issue

Hey guys i recently got this smart tv in and the problem with it is, now i'm going to split this up from what the seller told me, what i first experienced and then when things went down hill.

*What I was told - This tv went through what he described as a powersurge through an unprotected outlet because he noticed other electronics acting weird through this outlet. He described that the tv would randomly turn itself off and on during random intervals of the day. sometimes it would stay on for a few hours sometimes it would shut off instantly.

*When i got home - I experienced just what he described about random shutting off and turning on. So, I took the tv to my work area, ripped it apart ( almost breaking the rear connector which is for the Infra-red sensor/ input control and wifi card) and took a look at the power supply. I figured it was relatively safe to assume since the screen looked fine, picture came in, backlights were fine, that I was looking at a Power supply issue. I didn't notice anything wrong with the supply at least nothing obvious. No caps looked busted, I checked the fuse on the supply and it checked out. I even checked a few various resistors. couldn't find anything that way so I decided just for the heck of it to switch power cables as well and plugged the tv back in without that rear cable for the input and wifi plugged in. Well, the tv fired up and stayed on for a good few minutes. So i decided to switch power cables. Again Tv stayed on, no sign of trouble. So i plugged that input cable back in and fired it up. Yet again no problem. So i decided to completely reassemble it and give it a full on test.

*3 days later - ok so the tv's been working 100% I was getting ready to sell it when....disaster it started rebooting again. It started at about 10 second intervals. It would fully load the menu's then shut off and reboot. Then i noticed it slowly becoming quicker until the point where all you would see is the backlight flicker before it rebooted then it was just off / on.

I haven't ripped it back apart after it started doing this again but I have a feeling I'm not going to find anything different from what I found before. I have heard that several Samsungs like this one had power issues. I'm not sure if this one is suffering from something similliar ( I can never figure out what in those Supplies went, just that samsung covered alot of repairs where they replaced the power board). I'm also not sure if it was just electrical malfunction from the "surge". If anyone has any thoughts please let me know. I'd like to fix this board if i can rather than simply replace it.

Posting pictures of the back of your tv showing the boards with clear pictures may help you more with fixing your problem

I am not so convinced it is a power issue on the PSU, rather I think you have a main board issue. For that you would have to check PSon and BLon on the PSU while the TV is rebooting itself.
As for the PSU, maybe check it over for cold solder joints, make sure all connectors make proper contact etc.
You can try heating (hair dryer) or cooling (can of air upside down) on the boards and see what it does.

Can we have high res, straight shot pics of the front and rear of the main and PSU, so we can see what we deal with?

                  Re: Samsung un40f6300 power issue

Many "Power Fail Count" so it seems to be problems with the PSU.
As you said many have had their PSU replaced.
As you also said it could work randomly,
so I have checked the connector CNM803 to see that there is no
                  poor connection.

sorry i've been busy with finals so just now have had a chance to look at this. I've checked the connectors you asked Kilroys, The connector seems fine.

CapLeaker. I have a basic smart phone, that's the best camera I have unfortunately. I can try measuring those the next time it acts up but it's random when it happens.

                      Re: Samsung un40f6300 power issue

Well...crap. I was reassembling the tv and apparently was a little too rough reconnective the part on the main board that connects the IR sensore, button, and WIFI. Those pins are too small for me to re solder and i can't find the main board online. ShopJimmy is out of stock, Ebay doesn't have the right one. The break was relatively clean but I just can't solder somethinglike that. :/ this might be a dead project. I appreciate everyone's help as always.

Edit: I did find a compatible board on ebay and am ordering it I'm hoping it kills 2 birbs with one stone. Fixes the connector issue i just broke, and fixes the power issue i was having.

Hey guys just wanted to give everyone an update. I installed the new main board and have been testing the tv for over a week now without incident. The Wifi is also now properly working and it wasn't before. It would appear that something did happen to the main board. Thanks everyone once again for their help.
