    TEAC LEV24A1FHD replace RF socket

So, I acquired a TV, that seems like it is actually pretty good. A Teac LEV24A1FHD.
The issue is that it has taken a bit of a beaten and part of the RF socket has been ripped off.

What I would like to know is if someone knows what the part number is for this particular component, where I might purchase it in South Australia (if at all possible) and any other details that might be good to know?

I assume you mean the little metal box I photographed. I'll get into it when I get an opportunity. May not be for a day or so.

Ok if you can take the lid off you might be able to replace the coil easily rather than the whole can.

No way to get in there. Will need to remove it. Looks like it's just a shield?

Yeah probably is just the shield, the tuner Ic will be soldered on to the motherboard.

Will have to get some de-solder braid, can't find mine. Sort of sucks, was hoping to only make one trip.

Re: TEAC LEV24A1FHD replace RF socket

So, I tried to heat it up but it barely melted, I went up to ~ 480 Celsius. I only have a needle point head and unless I get a new iron/ station I can't change my tip.
Anyway, any tips or suggestions? I could cut it off to get in there, any issues doing that?

Take something bigger... maybe a soldering gun, heat gun, a bigger soldering iron.

Also try adding some new solder it sometimes helps with removal of parts.

... leaded solder has a lower melting temp, silver solder has a higher melting temp.
