Hi guys,
Another dim display solved by repairing the lamp house.
photo 1 shows dim illumination with the last led on strip 8 not burning.
Photo 2 shows that i swapped strip 8 with strip 12, putting the faulty led in the bottom right hand corner. lamps still burning dimly.
Photo 3 shows the faulty led have been replaced with a 1n4148 (i dont know if this is "legal")
Photo 4 shows leds now all burning brightly.
The faulty led read about 1.5 megohm either way.
A good led showed no resistance either way on my dmm's resistor setting, but illuminated when i foward biased the led on my dmm's diode setting.
Thanks to the guys who posted the information on led & flourescent illumination.
