My SMPS relay keeps clicking on and off randomly. When it's ON, voltages are correct and I get a fine image as long as it stays ON long enough to see it. I troubleshooted this board a year ago and worked fine for a while. I changed 2 FET's and the main fuse at that time.
I didn't find the schematic for this board so I am not sure what could cause this problem. Over current protection? Bad standby cap? Heat didn't help. I checked all soldering and retouched them. Changed a few caps coming in the rebuild kit even if they looked fine. The problem occurs without any other bord connected.
I am having a similar problem with this TV. Hi. On my power supply board, there is a 1250v square blue capacitor that is ruptured. Would I be able to just replace it or do I need a whole new board?
The only real concern is the condition of the pad and final solder quality. I don't have exact same board but I'm quite certain the orientation is most definitely on Hot side of P/S Board; that said first see if you can find the replacement component and with Power Supply fully disconnected from AC input (detached), Get a good digital multimeter and test VS, AND VE for possible short circuit to ground both sides of the interconnect cable to both sustain boards including primary checking sustain boards. Any short back to power output will be coming from the highest current load source or possible shorted sustain board.
Some claim sustain boards should only be replaced as matched set, but who cares if you have not seen any other problems. Manufacturers in most cases utilize market stimulation by reducing component quality.
In my experience I would likely think you either had a faulty solder joint since most plasma TV's run substantially hotter by nature. It may have also been caused by a cold solder joint from the factory. You might very well have compounded problems. May not be of much value but it doesn't appear to be a common fault.... I will have a look I may have a spare P/S from a 6500 series I received witha cracked screen.
