    Samsung UN40D6400 led problem

I finally figured out what was wrong with this un40d6400 I purchased that was power cycling.
Some of the leds arent lighting up. I dont know if its due to them being faulty or what.
It is an edged lit led. Do I repleace all of them? Is there a way to test them? I have watched reecey's video and have doen that test on the back lit leds on a 50' emerson but this is different.
Both sides work up to the same exact spot, marked with a purple sharpie
The portion that is out is the top of the screeen.

I can't see why you can't test them. Are they the 4 leds in 1 package type?

I have no idea. I'm new at this. Should I take them off the TV?

These are the numbers on the led strip but Google turns up nothing.

          you can find the strip
or measure each led to see witch one is bad

            Re: Samsung UN40D6400 led problem

seeing that both strips don't light the last 1/3 section,I'm starting to wonder if it's not a driver issue. Often they drive them in groups of so many led's. To me it's a little too coincidental that both sides would be down at same point.
You can trace out which wire does what group of led's and swap 2 wires in the connector to see if the "problem" section moves along with it. Or measure the wire on the dead group?

Looking at the connectors,it seems to have 3 groups,(3 white wires in each connector). Unless a shorted/open led in that 1/3 section kills all of them?

Have you unplugged both connectors to the led strips and checked that you have the same voltage on all the pin, just in case you have lost a supply.

Measure the voltage on the pins of the connectors plugged into the led strips and see if one on each side has a lower or higher voltage than the rest.

This is the connector on the led. Btw there are 72 LEDs on each strip. A left strip and a right one.

How exactly should I test them? If I plug it in the LEDs are blinding? I can't see what I'm doing.

I'm sure this is a problem everyone has when testing them. You know the fault is in the lower section of each strip so can you cover the working ones (but not too close so as they overheat) so they don't shine in your eyes.

What's the black mark on the connector?

It's the upper section of the strips that dont work. The black mark was already there. It looks like a marker.
Do I hold my black lead on the chassis? Do I test every pin? Even the black and blue? What am I looking for voltage wise?

Here is a picture of where the led connectors plug into the psu.

There are charts showing the pins names of those two CNL801A, 801B connectors.
Can we see the chart without the wires in the way?

did the left strip and right one share same socket? or each one goes to PSU separately.

socket on your photo hat 8 pins, and total are 72 as you wrote, need the photo of the out put on the PSU are there really 8 wiring on each socket?

                                okay, i saw the photo,

you have each side had 2 strip separate each one had 3 Group , each Group had 12 Diode

                                its 7030 6 Volts Diode,

I was just measuring the pins plugged into the right side (with the blue wire) when budm asked for the picture.
The blue wire had 118v when the led flashed on and the white wire below that 60v. That's as far as I got. I stop to take the picture.
