    Vizio VL370M

Hi I recently acquired a Vizio LCD TV model VL370M and when i unplug it to hard reset sometimes it works perfect. then shortly after it has rolling colored line horizontally. I would think its the T CON board except most common is vertical lines. Ive been told bad Lcd screen but why would it work perfect sometimes? Pressing on the screen does not change any look at all. I have takin pictures of the different behaviors and hope i can post them here. (new to all this) Just wondering where you guys would start with this thing or if its a junk screen. Thanks!

It can be that the ICs on the flexible circuit board between the LCD glass panel and the long tab bonding circuit boards heated up and failed to function.

Is there a fix or is it worth fixing?

If it is the IC problem, there is nothing you can do, you can try using a can of freeze spray to cool down the ICs some how to see if the problem will go away.

Ok so i finally got some cold spray. Started it up from hard reset, works perfect, warms up and starts acting up, spraying around and hit t con at one point, fixes it for a minute, cant replicate again on same reset cycle. Is it at all possible that t con board is causing the issues or the flex ribbon connecting it? If i leave it alone unplugged and go out tomorrow after it sat on hard reset the TV reliably works perfect for a minute or 2. Any thoughts?

I would be curious to see what happens if you start it cold,so it works perfect, then keep spraying cold spray at the t-con,to keep it cold(enough to keep it frosty) and see if you can keep it working good longer. That would tell you its tcon related,yes/no.

              Re: Vizio VL370M

Thank you for your suggestion Martino, freezing the t-con seems to directly effect the picture and fix it. I am willing to take the risk on trying a new t-con board and hopefully end up with a fully functional TV. I was about to trash it because nearly everywhere states that horizontal lines such as the ones pictured above can not be t-con related. But alas the board on this particular set is not next too anything else so it has to be at the very least a part of the problem. Ill let you all know when the part comes in.

Do you have the pictures of the area of the T-CON that you freeze spray and causes the pictures to be normal again?

I'd try between the freeze spray and a hot solder iron to pin point the component thats sensitive. Might be a single little resistor. making it a 25 cent repair !

well the tv displays an different problem now, the old T-CON board seemed to had died. The screen only has backlight now. Replacment part came today, same problem. Any possible causes or suggestions? Not sure what else could make it seem like a T-CON issues, maybe bad main board? Where to start.

Now we need a picture of the t-con board,as sharp and high resolution as possible. As per request of budm
