    Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting

All the part numbers are the same as Haier LE55B1381

I'll tell the whole story including stuff that might not be necessary!

I bought this TV 2 years ago and it arrived damaged in shipment. There were some discolorations on the screen and the coaxial jack was ripped out. I filed a claim with FedEx and got to keep the TV. I figured it was still usable with these issues.

A year later, it wouldnt power on. I opened it up and replaced the filter caps in the power supply, and from then on it worked fine.

Interestingly, after opening it, recapping, and putting it back together again, all the discolorations on the screen went away.

Also, I decided to rectify my biggest complaint with the unit and connected the speaker leads to a set of bookshelf speakers instead of the internal speakers. This improved the sound tremendously.

Now, a year later, it wouldnt turn on again. This time rather than recap, I replaced the entire power supply board.

It turns on but there is no longer any sound through the speakers. There is still sound through the headphone jack.

Also, up until now I could still pick up some local digital channels with nothing connected to the broken coax jack. Now, nothing.

I was going to order a replacement for the board the speakers plugged into-- I assumed it was an amplifier board-- but another thread on this forum says it's a TCON board.

Also the coax jack appears to be part of the main board, I'm wondering if the best thing to do would be to replace that entire board? I dont NEED coax or even local channels but it is useful.

I will post some pictures, they arent very good.

            Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting

The TCON (Timing Control) board is only for the LCD. Has nothing to do with the sound or picking up channels. On your last picture the board in the bottom right corner is your main board. That's where the trouble lies and the board you need. The leads that disappear deliver the power to the backlights behind the LCD panel.

Now if your symptoms are the result by replacing the power supply, we would have to do some diagnosing first, before throwing parts at it. Post a nice straight shot, high res. picture of the main board, so we can see something.

Try heating up the main board with a hair dryer and see what you get.

For reflow? I've heard of this being suggested, but I've never heard of it actually working.

For heating up the caps and may be cold solder joints, bad parts with heat sensitive, not for reflow.

Or if that fails, freeze spray the Spi flash Ic (normally U11 on them boards but not certain) sometimes the Ic corrupts meaning it wont load the firmware and makes the Tv stuck in standby. Freezing it allows it to read the files again and boot in alot of cases, if so you know your firmware has gone.

Heated the main board with a hair dryer and reseated all the molex connectors. Now I have sound. The tuner does not work unless I stick a screwdriver where the broken coax jack was. Is there a way to replace only that part of the board, or is my only option to replace the entire main board?

If you find the proper connector, no problem. Maybe check Digikey or Mouser etc.

It's more than just the coax jack, it's broken off inside the shielded case. I assume I'd have to replace whatever is inside the shielded case.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                                          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                                          CN6401
                                          Pin 01 NC
                                          Pin 02 NC
                                          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                                          Pin 04 "N/C"
                                          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                                          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                                          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
