Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code

I removed the board, checked the fuses and resistors again, all seem ok.

Not sure about the PFC voltage, is this the 450V voltage from the PSU?

It is the boosted Voltage from the PFC circuit, is should be closed to 400VDC.

You are fine on the PFC Voltages feeding the backlights circuits.

Stupid question, but why does the GL board require 400 VDC?

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code

Higher Voltage will require less current through the devices and traces and wire for the same power if you run at lower Voltage then you need bigger conductors and higher current rating for the device for the same power.
I.E. you want to produce 100 Watts of power, if you power source is 100V then the current requirement will be 1A (100V x 1A = 100W) through the load.
But if you need 100 Watts of power but your power source is only 10V then you will need 10A of current so the wire gauge will be much bigger and the switching device will have to be able to handle the higher current.

Looking at the GL schematic that budm found, each of R_OUT, B_OUT and G_OUT have feedback comparators, and also zeners to detect over voltage and raise ERROR.
Probably the simplest information to consider initially would the be volt readings on all the other external connectors, without the redundancy, before and after fault detected. I gather you're already happy with the PFC 400v supply.

Re: Sony KDL-46X4500 - 6 LED Blink Code

Hi again, I rechecked the fuses, resistors etc. that BUDM asked me to and as before, they all seemed ok but having taken so many days trying to figure out the problem, I decided to take a chance and source another board.

I managed to find a second hand inverter board from the States, although not from shopjimmy, having said that, I have recently found out that shopjimmy do ship to the UK, just need to e-mail austin@shopjimmy.com.

Anyway, the board arrived the other day of which I have fitted and glad to say the TV is now up and running!

Thanks everyone for your help with this subject.

EERRMM.. Just when you thought it safe to go in to the water.

Just dragged this TV from outside as I was repairing it in my shed. Now have it all connected up but have vertical lines appearing all across the screen?

As you know, I only replaced the inverter board so was not able to see any image until now, any ideas, possible t-con maybe, hope it's not the panel?

                        Thanks.

Maybe clean and reseat all ribbon cables from the screen to tcon and also the lvds lead from t con to main board, maybe if your shed was a little damp etc its got some moister/corrosion on the cables etc.
