    Panasonic tc-p55gt30

I have the option of buying this for $50. Owner says it doesn't turn on but gets power.
Seeing I lost almost $200 on the lg 60pv250, should I take a chance on this?
He says it still gets power.

For $50 i would buy this tv.

If it has power then it probably is giving a blinking error. ( Led is for example blinking 7 times ).
So find out if it gives this blinking pattern , if so then buy this tv!!

He says the led blinks. He isn't home from work yet. If it's on solid without blinking, don't buy it?

Then i would still buy it. Only reason i would NOT buy this tv for $50 is when the panel is cracked. And if the panel is cracked you can always sell the boards for more!

Find out what the blinking code is and search the forum! I'll bet that the tv is blinking 7 times....

I don't want to annoy him by asking too many questions. Lol. He may move to the next buyer. I was the first one to contact him.
The panel is not cracked that I can see in the pictures. Of course not being on, but no visible cracks.

This set for $50 is cheap!

              I know. I had a th-42pz80u then a th-50px75u.
              Now I have 2 lg. a 50pm6700 and a 60pn6500.
The panasonics looked much better. I was going for size.
I'd like to swap the 50pm6700 with the Tc-p55gt30.

Malachi, if you are afraid to annoy the seller than just tell him you will take the tv and go over and just check it out. If it has a cracked screen, or if the sets turns on and has lines, just don't go through with it. If its anything to do with the tv turning on and then shutting back off, or not turning on at all, then definitely buy it! Be prepared to spend at least $100 on parts to get it fixed however unless you can do the repair on a component level. Those SC and buffer boards go out more often than anything else and can get tricky to fix yourself if you don't have much experience.

As Nick said but If you can solder then you can fix this tv. So either +/- $100 for the SC board or buy the repair set for $ 15/20

I just fixed a p55gt30 and definitely buy it for $50.00. Need to find out the code. The boards on these are very hard to find and can be a little tricky to diagnose. Recommend downloading the Panasonic trouble shooting guide usually Electranya has them for free. There is a lot of Panasonic help on this forum and I got help on mine and it worked out. I paid $100.00 for a 7 blink one

I just picked it up. Man it's heavy for a 48 year old out shape to carry and fit in the back seat of a Honda Civic.
The seller didn't want $50 anymore. She got offered 32" tv's in trade I traded a 37" sylvania lcd that I picked up for free.
It wasn't working, put a new t-con board it for $20 and it worked.

It's blinking 8 times. This is what the service manual says:

eBay has an ss board (Zsus I believe according to shopjimmy) new for $50 obo free shipping. They accept returns, no stocking fee, I pay return shipping.
                              What is the ss2 board?

A couple of pictures of the back. I haven't doe anything. Tomorrow I'll open her up.
There is a part missing by where the power cord is. I've never seen a TV like that. Can any one tell me what is missing?
Also it looks like there are slots for 4 cooling fans but there are only 2, on the left side.
Is this how this model is?

Disregard my last two posts. Using my awesome internet skills, lol, I've found the part number for the cover and it only has 2 fans.

                                      Re: Panasonic tc-p55gt30

You are missing a plastic cover that goes over the power cord. If you are careful with the cord, you could probably just cover the opening with tape to risk shock. I would try to find the cover. Someone has had it apart apparently with that missing. Not sure on the fans, but I think there are four. More than likely with 8 blinks, you probably have a bad SS board which is the board on the right side looking from the back. You will need to remove the "A" board or at least move it out of the way to get to the connections. The "A" board is the one with all the video connections. I will try to look tonight at the training guide to tell you how to check the 8 blink code or if you are lucky tw2005 will chime in as he is really knowledgeable in Panasonic plasma's. The SS board can be repaired at component level, but I think you can get them pretty cheap. Definitely diagnose first. I think on this model if you want to use the component, composite and audio you need adapters which are available. I guess I am getting ahead of myself, first you have to get it fixed.

I forgot to mention the SS2 board is just an extension of the SS board. Its behind the A board.
