I have a Sony Bravia with strange symptoms. It is an LCD TV and it appears to have ghosting, or trails behind anything that moves on the screen. Is this a main board issue or a bad panel? Here are some pics of the TV screen. I haven't opened the tv yet. I want to know if its a panel problem before I waste any time on it.

I would say either mainboard or panel tabbonds. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Anyone Doing So Will Be Banned Instantly !

Re: Sony KDL-32M3000 ghosting
Tab bond issues
Take of the cover to the screen tabs and press each one to see if it changes ,if one does than the screen is the issue
I dont think this is a T-con issueComment

Re: Sony KDL-32M3000 ghosting
You could try a new T-con but that looks like the typical Sony TFT LCD failure with the tab bonding.
Seeing that you only have one TFT ribbon cable coming out of the T-con makes it hard to test left and right screen integrity.
Very rare occasions the video output on the mainboard can cause LCD pixel text/picture bleed.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-32M3000 ghosting
Worth a shot, I have sold Tv's that I preformed tab bond repairs on over 2 years ago not an issue. Also all the others I have done have been fine. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Re: Sony KDL-32M3000 ghosting
You can do break it down with all the boards intact, all you need to do is remove the front bezel and then remove the front metal shroud around the LCD panel and presto.
IMO its a lot of work but might as well give it a go if you already have it apart.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-32M3000 ghosting
If you are not getting any change with the tabs its probably the embedded IC chip inside the ribbon cables attached to the screen.
At this point I would just button it up and call it, if the mainboard is cheap or T-con you could try those but at this point being a 32" cost of parts vs a new TV thats up to you.
I know with most sony mainboards they are not just plug in play you will need to update the firmware if applicable, enter the Service menu and make sure to select the proper panel type ect.
Thats all I got to offer for advice! Good luck!Comment

by CheesesteakHello All,
Hoping one of you wizards might be able to help me, I'm new to TV repair, I'm trying to troubleshoot a ghosting/jumping image on a 4k 55in Sony XBR-55A8G OLED TV.
I have tried re-seating all cables, and lightly manipulating the cables while the TV is on to see if the picture changes with pressure on any of the cables/connectors. I also replaced the TCON board and the ribbon cables connecting the TCON board to the panel, the issue has not changed with the replacements or with any cable manipulation / re-seating.

by samolo75Hi,
I started posting in a different thread and I was told it was not the best ans the tv model and the fault did not match. I am copping here what I wrote.
After starting the TV it works ok for a few seconds and then starts showing ghost image with horizontal lines intermittently (except the very top). The frequency of the ghosting is steady, like every second or so, it goes from normal to ghosting every second and back.
The TV is a 49XE8096. I already did quite a lot of trouble shooting. And I got the doubt if the problem is in the panel or de Tcon.
When disconnecting... -
by dkneyleDiagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.
Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about... -
