    Panasonic TH-42PX80U PSB

I picked this up the other day and someone had already removed Q406 from power board. My question is if anyone would know if the screw for the transistor would have had a nylon insulator. Also found an open ceramic cement resistor that was open and wondering if it is ok to use a 10 ohm 10 watt axial instead of what the picture shows. Thanks.

Resistor in pic has thermal fuse inside along with resistor. A correct one should be obtained and fitted for Safety Reasons.
--A straight 10 ohm wirewound can be used to Test the set--but then the correct part fitted.

As to whether the screw needs a washer--All depends on the Transistor....

If it's replaced with the original casing type, no but if definitely needs the insulating silicon pad behind it or you will have a dead short.

RJK5020 may have been what was there

Thanks for the reply Alastair E. Will try and locate resistor. Looking at transistor and screw closely, there is no room for insulator to fit into through hole.

Thanks tw2005, There is some kind of thin sheet insulator on the heat sink as shown in the pics.

I also think I found the resistor I need from Mouser, # 588-TWW5J10RE. Looks just like the one on the board. But it did not say anything about being thermaly fused.

          Thanks guys!

Got the parts installed today and all is well. Now I will order the correct 10 ohm resistor. Thanks guys for your input.
