Hi everyone sorry i'm new too this so i'll explain everything to the best of my ability.
Basically i have the above mentioned Vizio tv. I got this in for repair and i'll note when I first plug in the tv. the standby light is fully lit, then blinks 3 times it seems then takes a slight pause then blinks several more times then goes to standby. I'm not sure if there's an indication there of something but figured i'd note it. Once i turn on the tv using the power button on the set, the tv instantly powers on, the standby light indicates on, and the backlights turn on. There however is no picture. After a few seconds the backlight's change intensity which I assume would mean it's completing it's boot sequence.
My original thought was the mainboard since when i had this type of issue in the past, having backlights without a picture it turned out to be the mainboard so i replaced it and no dice. The tv seemed unchanged so i returned that board.
Recently I ordered a t-con board. (yes i know without any testing this is horrible troubleshooting). So i hooked everything up and...no dice....or so i thought. I looked at the tv and noticed that there was a couple of 1 -2 inch bars showing up on screen. they were very subtle but they were definitely there and definitely don't show up with the old board. I decided to a bit further and removed one of the ribbon cables that connect to the panel boards and i instantly got a reaction of the one side of the screen being whited out and the other having a set of vertical rainbow lines.
My thoughts at this point is i potentially got a bad t-con board from the shop I ordered from, but am also concerned that the panel might be at fault. However, my thought is, if it were the panel wouldn't i get the same weird 2 bars or so regardless of whether a t-con board was connected or not and wouldn't getting that weird rainbow effect and white screen also be unrealistic with a bad panel that's been tampered with.
At this point before i go about ordering a new t-con board and returning the one a just bought I'd like to hear your thoughts. I thank you all in advance for your help.
