Hello everyone I have a problem with my Toshiba TV. I worked from 2011 until about 3 months ago when i replaced it. I now have some free time and am interested in trying to fix it or at least learn more about how it is supposed to work. Here are the symptoms:
Once plugged in the green light on the front lights up for about one second. a black relay on the power supply board clicks and the light goes off. This repeats constantly for as long as the TV is plugged in. at about 1 second interval.
I am not an expert but I tested the 5 V standby (pin 4) and it reads 5V
I tested the AC detection Power on and TV on pins all go from 0V to about 3V every time the relay clicks.
the PWR, BL on/off and 24V LNB are not reading anything. I assume the TV is trying to turn on but not getting the right signal somewhere. I have looked carefully at all the Caps and I don't see any obviously bad no signs or smells of burnt anything on the board. I have attached a troubleshooting guide I found that has a better picture than I took and has some info on layout. Mine looks exactly like this attachment.
I have a multimeter that can measure capacitance in nF I assume the correct way to use it is black lead to neg and red lead to pos with no power to the board, if this is not correct please let me know.
What should I do next?
