Hisense 50H5G has sound no backlight

I just got this one, customer was watching and the picture faded but they could still see the picture. Changed the channel and picture came back. Then later it went black. I can see the picture but no back light. I am suspecting a open led but I do not see the usual flash of back light when I turn it on. Checked the voltages to the led's 220V on red lead and 110V on white. XP805 on the power supply board is gnd, gnd, pwm is 5v, sw is 4v, 12, 12, stb is 4v, gnd then the last two are both 19v but should be 16v. Am I right in thinking it is a open led or should I be looking at something else?

More likely open circuit in the LED strings due to open LED or open connections between LED strips.
You only has two wires to the LED strips inside the panel so the strips are connected in series to form one long LED string.

Kind of what I thought. I have been replacing led strips like crazy in LG and toshiba tvs but they always seem to flash the few leds that do light up, and since they usually have more than two that makes sense. I will take the panel apart and take a look. I am not even sure if the led's are available for this TV.

The LED strips/LEDs are connected in series like Christmas lights so one goes open circuit then the whole thing will not light up, but if the LED shorted out then the string will still light up.

Removed the lcd panel and tested all of the led strips. Found two bad led's in one strip were open. I want to make sure but has anyone bypassed the led's by shorting around them?

Not good idea to bypass, you can use 3.3V 1W Zener connected in reverse bias or use 5 1N4007 connected in series to simulate Vf of one LED.

I will try that. I need to order the diodes first since I do not seem to have any. I just got back into TV repair after being out of it for 10 years. All of the TV repair shops in our county have closed for health or other reasons.

Thanks for the follow-up, you should also turn down the Backlights level as low as you can to extend the life of the LEDs.

                      Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                      - sound and backlight, but no picture
                      - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                      - it keeps rebooting
                      - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                      - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                      - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                      by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                      by Ierwin
                      Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
                      by jchang
                      Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                      Symptom:
                      No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                      No sound at all.

                      What I tried:
                      1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Hisense 65p7 sound but no picture
                      by jake12021
                      Hi all,
I have got a Hisense 65p7 tv. The red standby light is solid when plugged in. When turned on with remote the red standby light flashes 17 times and then stays off. The screen lights up the smallest amount and need to turn off with remote again to get back to a solid standby light. Ive already gone through replacing power board and main board and neither fixed the issue. The back lights under the back panel are lit up when tv is on and sound still works. Wondering if I should try to replace the t-con board? Or is there any tests for the leds? (I have a voltmeter)...
