Hey guys ,
Bought this tv yesterday with the symptoms that it wont power on or power on very difficult. When it runs it has alot of horizontal lines in the screen or just a blurry mess of colours......
When turned on for the first time the led blinks 5 times and turns off or tries to restart again.
Capacitors on all boards looked fine , no swollen caps. Powerboard uses capacitors from Sanyo but replaced them anyway , just to be sure. Turned it on and the same symptoms. It just needs that extra push to turn it on.....
This set has a extra board seated between the T-con and the mainboard and in this case this board was giving the problems.
Applying some heat to the small smd caps on this board turns the tv on. Well , it makes a sound but immediately horizontal lines appear on the screen. Lines are not steady....they come and go. ( like shooting stars ).
Applying more heat to the board and the lines disappear but when the board cools down the lines come back and the picture gets worse and worse.
So this is either a capacitor problem or the 2 coils/spools.
The fix for this symptom is to replace the smd capacitors on the board , there are like five 100uf/25v caps , one 22uf/25v cap and one 1uf/16v cap.
I replaced them all for 50v caps just to be sure and for the 22uf i used a 33uf/50v
After replacing those capacitors the tv turns on after 5 blinks , which is normal for samsung.
Hope this helps someone!
