Have you even tested the diodes ?

I have tested a few of them in circuit. I was wandering if there was a common diode or group to look at first. the board is slightly brown near some of the diodes does this indicate definitely a burned diode or do they get that hot? this is my first attempt on a television although I have replaced caps on a few boards in washing machines.

Take them out of crcuit, sometimes they fail leaky rather than shorted only way to know is to pull them and test.

I will pull them. Is the discoloring of the board an indicator?

Yes, any diode with discoloration near it could be faulty. I had a Vestel 17PW26 with no standby but fuse etc was good, the Pfc diode had lots lf discoloration near it and was getting very hot, after removing found that it wasn't shorted but had a voltage drop both ways meaning it was bad. After replacing it set worked fine.

Thank you. how will I determine what size diode to purchase? they are black with just a silver line (cathode) mark.

Pictures of your power supply board?
The ones that usually failed are ZD902, 904 (P6KE120A) due to leakage. Also check D925 also (these are the diodes for the 24V power supply section) the STBY 12V will be D924, ZD906.
I do not know if my diagram matches your board or not.

this it with new and old caps. only the 2200 was bulged but I put all four in.

OK, I look the wrong section, it will be D924, ZD906 P4KE250A for the 12V STBY power supply..
The standby power supply for this board is 12VDC.
Lift up one leg to test them.

Thanks budm. Those diode numbers P4KE250A & P6KE120A, do they replace what I think is a standard diode and a zenor diode? or am I looking at that wrong?

Those are the P/N of the TVS Diodes - Transient Voltage Suppressors P4KE series and P6KE series.

What Zener Diodes on a Linear Power Supply
                                by caspian
                                Dear members,

I have a linear variable power supply with unknown brand name that I used for voltage injection.
Then it failed. I discovered that its transistors (Q1 and Q2) are shorted.
In addition, I discovered that its zener diodes are defective.
I can replace the burned transistors.
But I do not know the model of the zener diodes. the model number is not marked on the zener diodes.
Therefore, I cannot replace the zener diodes.
I do not want to test the zener diodes in a test circuit to discover their model or value.
                                no schematics are available...

                                Dear Badcaps forum members,

Hope that you are all well!
I am a newbie on a mission to figure out the cause of the PSU making a "chirping" noise:

Having searched for this symptom online I have found some indication that failed capacitors may be an issue. To help with the troubleshooting, I have tried to isolate the problem and disconnected the PSU from the rest of the device - the chirping remained.
I have then found that the whole PSU (apart from a small add-on board) can be replaced, and there is even a datasheet for it: https://cdn.badc...

                                1. g´day! I have a samsung 22" tv monitor to fix. power supply model bn44-00505A. some stuff blown up on the primary, according to research something typical on this model. secondary seems ok. writings on the board say in outputs a5v (standby), b5v (switched) both on the lower 3 diodes on the picture, vamp and b13v (12.8v, both are the linked at the connector that goes to the main board) my question is, are both the upper diodes for 13v? I believe so but wanted to make sure before injecting voltage there to test. I injected 5v on the lower side and standby circuit is working fine

Hi folks. As the title says, I was doing a port replacement on a Lenovo Thinkpad T480s and in the process of post-solder cleaning, I somehow knocked off 2 or 3 diodes (i think they are diodes) near the main usb-c. I can't seem to find what kind of a diode is that. I know it's ultra tiny and just has a letter "G" on it. Would someone maybe have a proper schematic for the t480s model? I can only find the non-s one and it's quite different to the "s". Would love to figure out what component that is.
                                Thanks in advance!...

Hey guys, i have a sony home theater power supply thats a few smd zener diodes blown but its so hard to get them. any recommendation for me to use normal zener diodes?

                                1. UDZSTE-1710B (9.99V 5mA) (SC-90, SOD-323F)

                                2. UDZSTE-1724B (24V 200mW) (SC-90, SOD-323F)

                                3. UDZSTE-175.1B (5.1 V 200 mW) (SC-90, SOD-323F)

These are the diodes. If i use normal zener diodes, it will work right? Question is, can i get these values on normal zener diodes?
