    Samsung PS51E55D1M

    Hi,

Hoping someone can help. I have the Samsung PS51E55D1M and a couple of nights ago the thing went pop. Since then there is no picture. I can power it up and there appears to be power to the screen but no picture. switching between different inputs makes no difference.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Geoff

Ok so on the control board.

            This one:

Does the LED blink once every second or once every six seconds?

Ok you see these silver test points marked VS and VA

Use your meter on DC volts.
Black probe to the TV chassis.
Red prob to either of the test points.

                Post results

                VS=
                VA=

Also there should be a similar point on the Y-sustain called VSC (VSCAN)

                Post its result.

                VSC=

This is on the PSU board, correct?

Use your meter on DC volts.

I have an SVC VS and an SVC DGND, is this what we're looking for?

                  Post its result.

                  VSC=
                  Is the above correct Hamie

                    Vs va points above.

Yes also post the result of service vs on the y-sustain.

But you need to find the point called VSC or might be labelled as VSCAN.

Take a good photo of the y-sustain face on, not at an angle.

The test point for VSC might be a jumper wire.
It will be labelled, And should be close to a potentiometer also labeled VSC.

                                  Hmm--Went Pop...

No Vs, PSU shutting down, falling Va.

Short on Vs line--prolly on Y-SUS.

Check for shorts on Vs Line and the IGBT's/MOSFETS on both Y-SUS and X-SUS.

If Y-SUS short, Check Buffers too. Buffers Kill Samsung Y-SUS when they fail.

Pull the y-sustain from the tv and take a photo of the underside of the board.
