A simple check to find the faulty multi layer chip capacitor on these boards which I have used over and over again rather than desoldering multiple parts , especially when caps are in paralelle , if the short is on say the 12 volt rail just connect a 12 volt power supply at 10 amps to the 12 volt rail , even with a dead short the faulty cap or other component will draw some current and start getting hot , much quicker than desoldering lots of parts !

God--Even got vestel to put in an Hitachi welcome-screen on their crap chassis!

Was a time--OK Last Century-- when Hitachi's motto was, In a Word, Reliability....

Long gone now, I guess 'Inspire the Next' is MUCH more appropriate, Inspire you to buy a new TV, seeing Hitachi now means Vestel-Vomit CRAP!

Al all Tv's nower days are shit, even OLED I recon wont last too long reliability wise. Everything is just unders-designed cheap shit hidden under a cover

Mad to think--Ive got an Hitachi CNP-860 19" colour CRT set from mid 1970.

It still works, with no repairs in all that time--however, the CRT is rather tired....
They knew how to make things Properly then, None of this shove the crap through pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap...

We could go over to Turkey evacuate the factory, get everyone out some how then blow it up but might possibly get arrested for that lol

On the bright-side while these are utter shit gives me and alot of others a job can only keep correcting them until they become unfixable ie: Lcd panel failure.

Is that the one with the CRT mounted upside down with the anode cavity at the bottom and the instavision switch that kept the CRT heaters on all the time at reduced heater current so when you switched the set on it produced an instant picture with no CRT warm up ?

I have a fully restored 1957 Thorn 1400 Dual standard black and white set in my reception area connected to a sky box.
