    No power unless plugged in for 20 mins - Philips LC260WX2

    Hi all

    Bit of an unusual one here. I have a Philips LC260WX2 which only shows signs of power after it has been plugged in for 20 minutes. Before that, it's completely dead, not even a standby LED. Once it kicks in, it works perfectly until power to it gets switched off and it is left to cool down. It will work normally for days as long as it is left in standby when not in use.

    I've dealt with plenty of problems where TVs won't power on from standby, usually caused by bad caps, but this is the first time I've had a problem like this where it struggles to even take enough power for standby.

    Does anyone have any suggestions? Could we be just talking a straightforward cap replacement, or maybe something more serious? I just wanted to check before I waste too much time working on the wrong components.

    Thanks in advance.

    It could still be bad capacitors that haven't failed by blowing up. Do you have a hair dryer handy ?

      Freeze spray can help narrow it down too. When you find the area of the board that responds to the heat then start hitting individual components with freeze spray there until it malfunctions again. You can use canned air upside down for a freeze spray.

        sounds like a standard startup cap problem.

          I assume by startup cap you mean primary cap. Yes, I'd start in that area too and move down the power chain.

              Turn the tv on from cold and start heating the Psu to see if doing that helps it turn on faster. Also what cap brands are used in this one ?

                Philips TV 37pfl5604h/12 no standby voltage
                by Bad_IC

                Hello,
                I have a problem with this TV, the standby voltage is not present. I have checked the components around the IC fsq510's area and they seem to work, also replaced this IC but the problem persists.
                These are the voltages in some pins of IC fsq510:
                Vcc=18v
                D=320v
                Vstr=154v
                Unfortunately, I couldn't find the schematic
                What else could I check?
                Is it possible to provide standby voltage from an external source to allow the TV to turn on?
                Thank you...

                by Raulnn
                good evening. I have this basic tv, with an all-in-one board. This tv has a common fault in the primary power area. the tv did not turn on. I bought a repair kit. I have installed all the parts of the kit, but now the tv turns on the standby light intermittently but does not start. the flashing is very fast. What can be? Does anyone know the model? Thank you

                Hey All!

                Long time forum member here with a problematic laptop issue!

                I got a RZ09-0196 with a bloated battery (still worked and charged fine) I pulled the old cell pack out and installed a new cell pack in its place.

                The laptop would not power on with the new battery installed without the power supply being plugged in.

                When booting into Win10 (all up to date BTW) I saw the battery icon with 49% plugged in not charging.

                TL;Dr version, old battery worked, charged but was bloated, installed a new non OEM replacement, laptop/windows...

                Samsung UN48H5500AF - no standby, no video, no sound, backlights on when plugged in
                by fixitjunkie
                Hello All,

                Picked this up at a recycle center with hopes of a simple fix.
                When plugged in, the backlights come on, two blue LEDs on the T-con board illuminate then one goes out. Cycling the on-off switch has no effect.

                On the power supply board there are four test points labeled +, sine wave, sine wave and -. There is 120VAC across the sine waves and 113VDC across
                + and -. All the caps look good.

                I'm not sure where to check for the standby voltage output?

                Shop Jimmy's has plenty of PS boards, Main boards and T-con boards....

                Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
                by fharris1977
                Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.
