Samsung PN59D6500 3D Plasma No Display

Hello, I am new to this forum so hello to everyone. I have been given the task to try and diagnose a Samsung PN59D6500 3D Plasma for no display. I am an automotive mechanic and specialized in the electronics end of the vehicles. Been in the business for 34 years now. I love to fix things.
This tv problem started off by losing the display but had volume. Unplugging it for a while and trying again would have the set work for about 5 minutes then the same problem. The tv has been brought to me with no display or volume.
I found some tests online and on this forum. This is what I have so far.
On plug in, I hear a click, I have voltage from main board for ps_on, 3.2v on the VS_on from the logic board, I lose everything after 2 seconds. During that time, I do not have any voltage on the VA and VS on SMPS. I disconnect the X main, still the same. The Y main feeds the X main so I cannot try disconnecting Y main without losing X. Same condition and light on logic board flashes every 6 seconds. I tried to disconnect the feedback ribbon from the Y main to the logic board and now have the logic board trying multiple times to power up the SMPS instead of once. Oh, I also tried to eliminate the mainboard by jumpering the PS-On and the pins 3-4 on the logic. No screen activity and still no VA or VS voltage at test points. I was wondering if anyone could steer me in a direction to isolate and pinpoint the problem. Thanks

Well I found that the power supply was the culprit. I also found the problem on the power supply(SMPS). Board is repaired and the TV is working great. Ran it for an hour so far and no issues. Thanks BadCaps.

"I fixed it" isn't enough. To be helpful to those on this board or others who may link here from a google search with the same/similar problem please state how you found the problem and detail what you did to remedy the situation.

There was a youtube video of a guy who had a bad y main board and decided to resolder all the larger solder joints he could see. I decided to do the same with the SMPS. I used my magnifying head set and any questionable solder joint got reset. All the larger ones at least. And then, low and behold, I found a terminal as plain as day, cracked and separated from the board. It was on one of the larger transformers. I am sorry but I didn't take a picture or mark which one it was. It wasn't just cracked around the pin, it was well off the circuit board. Anyway it repaired it. The symptoms for the condition are listed in my original comment up above. Hope this helps others. It was well worth the effort of examining the board because it was repaired without replacing parts and also, because I was able to test the operation of the set, I knew that there were no other components required to get this unit working again.

excellent job, thanks for sharing. I have a similar set ( PN64D7000 ) with the same set of symptoms (plays sound, black screen) and will try to follow your steps.

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
                by Asraf Atb
                Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

Samsung PN50C540G3FXZA 50" Plasma, power cycling, Y-Main problem, Canada
                by bcstedt
Just starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.

At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)

After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers

Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing

Compatibility of main boards between different variations of samsung MU6100
                by JSin21
                Hoping someone here could possibly help. I have a few questions in regards to compatibility with main boards. But I'll give a quick short run down on what's going on first;

I have Samsung Smart TV UA65MU6100WXXY version DA01

Now years ago it started intermittently playing up after a lighting strike. Lighting hit the block of units i was living in at the time. Ever since that night the TV started having a mind of its own, It would randomly turn itself off or on, and all inputs stopped responding like HDMI, aerial, but USB still worked. Anyway, over the next few months...

Samsung HG75EJ690UB Hotel TV, change main?
                by elpatxi_bcn
                Hello!

I just got a Samsung TV model HG75EJ690UB 75" and 4K. It is a hotel TV, with a slightly different version of the Tizen operating system than the TVs at home.
Being a hotel, it is covered in many functions. With the service menu I can unlock some, but not others. For example, I can't install apps like Netflix etc...
The fact is that it seems that I can replace the main by a, say, "normal". I think the one that corresponds is NU7105, ref BN94-02635. At work, which is a convention center and a hotel, I have many TVs from 55" to 85" that...
