    TC-P60S30 lightning damage

    Make Panasonic Model TC-P60S30

    Lightning took out the xbox 1 and the TV. Tampa is indeed the lightning capital of North America First it would not turn on. Replaced the main board, now the TV looks like //SEE ATTACHED//

    I am thinking I am at a loss and the panel is gone "see burned areas that are different than the box's and distortion." Let me know what you guys think

    panel is not gone. looks like a sustain board issue . when you fault found this, did you simply remove the main board and replaced it or have other things been removed or disconnected?

    images can be uploaded going advanced, manage attachments

    where did you get the mainboard from? Is it the same board and revision as what was in there.

    can we get pictures of the back showing the boards and how everything is connected?

    Is everything connected?

      Re: TC-P60S30 lightning damage

      I tested for standby power and had it, so i determined the main board was bad following a youtube how to. I received another board with the same part # from amazon. Everything is connected. At first i thought i had a PS problem. I disconnected and removed it, but my replacement part was bad (PS). I re-installed the original and now i am where i am at today.

      I think I may have the wrong revision of main board. On the suffix there is a component on the top left and corner on my old board. My replacement board does not have one not sure if it is a diode or capacitor because there is a mark on both sides and did not test it with a meter. In the pictures i have all old parts installed... See pictures

      Note: sorry about the picture upload. I like using google docs so i don't take up space on the server and have to wait for files to "upload" grr. It also seems not to work for me.

        I have cropped the 2 main boards i have. My bad one (original) has 2 components in the suffix, far left hand side before the punch holes and dots. The new board only has 1 component and does not have the one on top. See attached.

            You have purchased a TNPH0914AC which is the 50" model board. like Reeceyburger suggests it does look like a SS board issue but need to know what other variables may have been introduced. Even with the wrong mainboard I would not expect it as bad but then I don't know either what would happen precisely.

            Some voltage checks on Vsus to see where it's at.

              Re: TC-P60S30 lightning damage

              With the lightning damage I have a challenge... Is there a schematic available somewhere i can make voltage reading from the power supply connectors?

              Variables.
              -Wrong Main Board, from the 50" model. Contacted seller to request a swap out if available
              --Original (bad) part re-installed.

              -All original parts installed and connections made. Without the Part #AC suffix main board, TV will not even turn on or give me a LED blink code.

              -Also have another main power supply card on hand, it would not turn the TV on with the Part #AC suffix (50" model" main card installed.)

              I could try to re-install it with the (bad) original card in? I do not believe it would work so I did not try it.

                Re: TC-P60S30 lightning damage

                This looks a lot like an SS board problem. A quick test can be done on these boards to see if the SS and SC are working. Can you supply a picture of these boards?

                    Pix of the bottom side of both are sometimes revealing...
                    send them if possible.

                    shopjimmy.com has plenty of SC and SS for very reasonable price !

                    TNPA5399AB = SC

                    TNPA5400AB = SS

                    TNPH0914AD = A

                      Re: TC-P60S30 lightning damage

                      OK, check the voltage across any one of the highlighted caps in the bank.
                      Should be approx half Vsus if the board is sustaining the panel e.g. for 215V panel about 107V is expected (tolerance of around 10V is ok, maybe more. boards should match each other.)

                        Re: TC-P60S30 lightning damage

                        Board 1 has 111VDC with 210VDC coming in.
                        Board 2 (above the main board) has 101VDC with 210VDC coming in.

                        All three Caps match each other on their board

                          The Caps check good on both boards. Other than trying to source the correct main board, is there anything else I can check?

                            there is nothing wrong but the main board you received. i just fixed the same tv yesterday same symptom. another main board fixed it. matter of fact this is the second tv i have fixed with bad main boards with this symptom.

                                The main board was for a 50" TV that i tried in the TV which gave me the picture earlier in the thread, but I did send it back. I ordered another "expensive" one of shop jimmy. I hope you are right about being a main board they just don't make plasma's like they used to...
