Samsung LN46B630 lines all over

I got this TV for free, but when I brought it home has horizontal lines all over, with what looks like an overlay or vertical bands in select areas. I haven't opened it yet, but would like to save the trouble if indeed someone has seen this before and can be confirmed as a panel issue.

Sorry to bump an old thread... Looks like keats11 received no replies. I'm curious if you received any help on this or if you ended up dumping the TV.

Interestingly enough, I just picked up an LN46B630N1F yesterday (8/11/2017). The vertical and horizontal line locations appear to be the same as the OP after the panel warms up a little bit. The vertical lines appear where there is TEXT - not necessarily where there is graphic, and spans both halves of the screen. The horizontal lines appear to be two horizontal lines on, followed by one horizontal line skipped.

However, when i plug in a source (chromecast in this case) and let it warm up, i see the vertical lines across a good portion of the screen w/ and w/o the menu displayed.

I've tried the following thus far:

1. Disconnect/reconnect the LVDS cable from both ends. Reseating it didn't help.
   [*Disconnect/reconnect the T-CON ribbon cables to the panel - no change.
2. Spray down the T-Con with a spray can - it doesn't appear to change anything.

Searching online, looks like the other possibilities are:

1. a bad T-Con
2. a bad main board
3. a bad panel / tab bonds

I'll have to get pictures of the back tomorrow. The TV is not close by right now... Any suggestions for now would be fantastic, but I know... no help until clear pictures of the boards are posted


Do samsung TVs have a debug jumper / method to enable a panel test mode? (Similar to the LG test pattern jumper, or the Panasonic plasma display test via removing the LVDS cable).

D'oh! I just noticed that i have a crack in the upper right corner of this panel. In my estimation, the TV isn't worth salvaging now. But I would still be curious about these lines in case I (or someone else) comes across TVs like this...

Well to me it doesn't look like it affects the osd which usually means it's not panel defect. But just my opinion

This is exactly what my samsung tv was doing (LN46B640). Eventually went black to just the horizontal lines... not sure if I should just trash it or try to find a tcon for it.

Hi, have you checked if there's a crack also you? If not, anyway this is a common problem in Samsung panels, also LED ones, please do this test, locate testpoints on t-con CPV1,2 or CKV1,2, try to insulate them on the flat cables to where them goes, using very slim adhesive tape strips, first Cpv1, then post result, then CPV2, attention that each of them goes on both connectors so it must be masked on both.
