Distorded Picture Samsung LN40A500 Picture inside

I started to receive this discolored screen on my Samsung LN40A500 TV.

I thought it could have been the T-CON board based on what I read on here, but that turned out to be incorrect as the picture stayed the same quality.

In the last year I have replaced the power supply and also the main logic board.

Any leads on what this could be?

Personally I would be shocked if you find out that this is anything other than the T-con based on the picture you took. Best thing to do would be to test all the gamma voltages on the T-con and post them. If I'm not mistaken, there are 16 test points on this T-con (V400H1-C03). These fail frequently and my guess is that the one you purchased is also bad.

I just replaced the tcon in that set. Picture looked just like that. I went into the service menu and changed the ldvs setting from jedi or whatever it was to PDP and it was fine. It has something to do with the newer software, so they said. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I had a similar issue with a different Samsung.
The model was LNT4061FX/XAA
It had a capacitor problem and when I upgraded the firmware to the most current version on the website - I got a picture similar to yours.

The fix was to go into the service menu.
In my case it was Option byte - lvds tx fmt
Change to VESA (from JEIDA)

LVDS tx - should be 8 bit.

Can't guarantee that it will work for you but it's worth taking a look at the current setting.

I just changed another t con in that same model. I got it off e bay from china for $43. Changed the ldvs setting from JEIDA to PDP and this one works great now too.
