    Sony KDL-40V3000 distorted picture

This Sony KDL-40V3000 has a distorted picture. Looks saturated.
Worst from coldstart, better when warm but not OK.
Panel or T-con should be the options here?

    Re: Sony KDL-40V3000 distorted picture

Don't you think this is actually related to T-con failure?
It's possible to see the picture distortion changes as it heats up during the first 30 seconds of operation.

      I'll try a T-CON for starters.

Check the GAMMA Voltages on test points on the T-CON board. Did you reseat the cables already?

Budm, what should the gamma voltages read if OK?

GAMMA Voltages If from ! to 14 they should increase or decrease uniformly. Do as BUDM said measure the voltages and post then we can determine a fault.

                Here's the Gamma voltages:

                VGMA1: 15,44
                VGMA2: 15,07
                VGMA3: 14,93
                VGMA4: 12,60
                VGMA5: 11,61
                VGMA6: 10,62
                VGMA7: 6,71
                VGMA8: 4,83
                VGMA9: 7,66
                VGMA10: 7,90
                VGMA11: 7,89
                VGMA12: 7,10
                VGMA13: 5,30
                VGMA14: 5,30
                VGMA15: 5,30
                VGMA16: 6,30
                VGMA17: 8,51
                VGMA18: 5,60
                VGMA19: 3,10
                VGMA20: 0,456
                VGMA21: 0,299
                VGMA22: 0,214
                VCOM: 6,68
                AVDD: 15,42

                (V)

Does the low reading on gamma 20-22 indicate a fault?

A lot of those readings look bad from what i understand it should be a steady gradual voltage drop im sure someone more experienced will comfirm

Gradual voltage drop or increase, but only ever moving in one direction (Monotonic function)

                        Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

VIZIO E70-E3 Half picture with half TCON
                        by Fly_Among_Stars
                        Hi,
                        I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                        Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                        by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...
