ok but i havent really come upon any lcd tv that had bad ccfl lamps.....have had damaged lamps but not ones that went bad...........

so why does it seem led lamps in tvs seem to burn out so fast?....arent leds suppose to last 25,000 hours?

If they manage the heat problem properly, do you see any heatsink for those LEDs? heatsink costs money, if they make the TV last just pass the warranty period then it is good enough, it does not matter what brand of TVs, the LEDs are failing like flies. I always tell people to turn down the backlights level as down as possible to extend the life of the LEDs.

yeah .....i havent heard ccfl failing like flies lol.......and i thought leds run cool...not hot like ccfl

so why the heat????...and yes the insides of these cheap branded walmart style tvs are crap....i cant believe how cheap materials used........they are made to only last 2-3 yrs it seems....even the earlier version lcd tvs will get more than 5 yrs out of them but they weighed 25lbs not 5 lbs like the cheap ones are now....they actually had steel in them and boards lol

to me a lcd tv that weighs 25lbs is better than one that weighs 5 lbs and made of 100% plastic

          5lbs means cheap....not good......

very interesting i always thought leds produced little to no heat......its the opposite

they produce a lot of heat but needs to be controlled via heat sinks

Some folks swear by not running the backlight higher than 50%, because of this LED burning out issue.

What you mean? LED LCD has LED's as a backlight. The older LCD's have CCFL's.

LED LCD is a lcd monitor with led backlight

there is no such thing as a LED TV or LED monitor.......its incorrect wording used by uninformed people

they are LCD monitors and tvs that use LED as backlight.....

in old days all LCD used ccfl as backlights and were just called LCD monitors or tvs

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
                        by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                        by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

                        No Backlight Macbook A1990 820-01041
                        by Comp_Pro
                        Hello all,

Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.

                        Tests performed:

There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
                        Fuse F8400 ok
                        Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
                        I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure...

Grundig 55 GUT 8768_55 (chassis gf) Black Screen, powers on and shows backlight
                        by classypenguin
Hello, I bought a Grundig 55 gut 8768_55 (chassis gf) as a defect β€˜black screen.

Now I have started with the basics:

Fuse intact, LED Tester says 123V, BL Cap has 140V, Mainboard to PSU 12V, 24V, 3.3V and 5.2V are avail+able, 12V and 3.3V at TCON (TV has no seperate Tcon)

As soon as I switch on the TV, it shows backlight, but a small grey line which disappears again.
When I tap Menu, the background light becomes brighter. What can I assume is wrong with the TV?
A defective mainboard? Or a software problem?

I would be glad of help....
