Help with how to replace LED's

I've gotten help with my TV's troubleshooting, her at BadCaps, and purchased a replacement for my TV's LED strings from a member's website. However, I've gotten no help in HOW to replace old with new, and am very nervous about opening up the panel without harming it. Just hoping someone can help me with a "how to" resource? My Tv model is: Vizio e470i-AO.

I have done one panel. 1st you need a big area to lay the screen down flat and no to scratch it. Then take it apart. The back is lifted, leaving the screen. It is fragile. The layers, need to stay in order. Some screens come a part differently. The individual led are a pain to replace. Usually you don't have the correct Leds, they damage the strip when removing them. After my 1st one, I don't do it unless it's my TV and I am out of options.

My advise is to scrap the set you can replace the led strip with difficulty then you will find other leds go they can also be a fire hazard has I have seen bad burn ups due to these crap leds who ever replaces the led strip will be liable under law for any fire caused by their work do you have insurance that covers you for this type of liability.You have been warned

Unless you've done a few panels--they are very prone to damage, the tab-strips and COF are mega delicate and often when reassembled you'll have lines down the screen due to the tab to glass connection failing.

Seeing its an LED set--they WILL fail again--I wouldn't bother TBH. LED's in these (and nearly all LED Backlit sets) are very unreliable rubbish, as they are overrun, get hot and fail.

I am a bit perturbed that I bought this LED string set without knowing how difficult installing them would be! But, alas, I have to give it a try. It's my only TV. I assume I may need to start a new thread, but thought I'd ask....how "possible" is the possibility of using the "smart" parts of this tv on another tv? ...ie are the boards of smart tv's so different that they won't "go" with another tv's panel and t-con(video output)? I ask because I consistently get calls from my local recycle facility to come pick up tv's I might can fix.

Hello All;
I just replaced the full set of led strips in one of these being very careful with the screen disassembly and reassembly. I was not able to verify anything on this set except that voltage was being supplied to the backlights and they were not coming on. Feeling confident that this would be the only problem I proceeded with the replacement of the LEDs. Gonna attach a pic of what I have now and ask you what you think?

Looks like tab bonding is damaged.

I have done several. They are not as bad as everybody is saying. If one led is dying others probably are close.
Yes, they are prone to failure.
Yes, you have to be careful not to break anything.
Yes, you need a large work area to lay things out in.
Take your time. Use a table cloth/blanket for your work area to prevent scratches. There are many screws to remove. Keep them in order. Work slowly and thoughtfully.

Tape the tabs over so they are not dangling about
Get sound handling gloves makes it much easier when handlng the lcd
You will get the odd lcd that fails
but if your careful will be a rarity than a common occurance
