    Re: Backlight issue LG 50ln5600

I may have figured it out. While all my LEDs do light up I noticed one L1 strip was drawing more than the others. Sure enough I switched that strip with the strip on set 1. Now line 2,3,4 light up instead of 1,5,6.

I noticed the extra draw when I was discharging the board in diode mode after TV was off. All the LED s slowly faded at the same rate except that L1 strip it stayed lit longer. So it seems to be just enough to fault and trigger the protection shut off.

Anyway should get the new strip in a couple days. I'll let you all know if the replacement fixes it.

Interesting you were talking about the 78V. I have two in here, the voltage measured 78V, but no display. I was checking voltages, when suddenly it went up to 115V, and the LEDS came on! hmmm.

Thats true but the pad is normally very small.

They shouldn't light up if the LEDs are faulty.

if you had a boost converter you could totally rule it out. By setting the converter at around 30v and touching the + -, if only some of the strings light then you would know that somehow the LEDs are faulty.

Alternatively You could link up 3 x 9v batteries in series and touch the + - of the strings and see if they light up.

So you think bypass the connectors all together ? Jump the leads with small wires? Thing is thing is if I take a reading of the green board with no connected LED strips the connection points the 4th connection is the voltage drop.

So you don't think one of the led strips could be bad and still light up?

I agree with Hamie add some fresh solder to the points. If that fails pull off the plastic connector thats at the end of each strip and bridge the gap with solder and some wire.

Maybe it's just not making a connection, what about dabbing a bit of solder on the Led strings so it fits tighter into the harness.

So today I measured the voltage on the 4 points on the plug that connects to the thin green led board. Before they enter board they are 78,0,78,0 that seems up to spec. I'm thinking at this point replace all LED strips and that green board. The LED strips may light up fine but if one is triggering the protection shut off.

I did in the start of the post . I measured the 2 led+ and 2 led-. I have not replaced the thin green board yet. That's my next step unless someone chimes in on what would cause one string to get no voltage. I've tried 2 different power supply's.

The power supply EAX64905501 v2.2 was swapped out for another same version I was told was tested and working properly. I guess it is possible I got a bad board but to both have the same LED string out is unlikely. Is it possible the motherboard could be not sending the signal to the LED drivers on the power supply? Is there a way to run the power supply not connected to the motherboard (jumper maybe)?
It sounds to me like that Green board on the end that all the LED strips connect to is bad at some places. Maybe some of the connectors are bad or there are broken traces or cracked solder joints. That would fit with the strips lighting or not lighting depending on which position you plug them into.

Have you checked for continuity between the plug from the PSU and the outputs to each of the LED strings?

All strips are good. I have done the diode to ground test and each one separate . Every led lights then fades properly as the remaining voltage is drained. So boost converter? On what board is that as I already replaced the power supply/LED driver board?

    Pictures of LED setup.
Second picture shows one set lit 3 sets light up and then go out fast . I have swapped out all LED strips and no LEDs are out.
In the last picture I labeled them 1-6 to show voltage (red x indicates does not light up on start up) the red x LED strips do work though if I swap them.
    1) 63v
    2) 170-78v
    3) 146-55v
    4) 50-0v
    5) 110v-78v
    6) 86v-55v

The first voltage is power on voltage.
The second voltage is the constant it ticks down to and stops at.

Well it won't let me upload the photos. I'll try later I guess

The LED strips do have a + - test points. I believe I can test them in diode mode. I'll try that tomorrow and get some readings. I really don't think its a contact though as I can switch out different strips and they light up in the working rows.

They have a plastic plug in type connector.

This is the direct replacement parts for it.. Each LED string is 2 pieces that attach to one another forming 6 long strings that connect to that board by the same plug in.

Finding the wrong part at a loooong led strip, part works fine, part flickers, all parallel...
    by edugimeno
    Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

TCL 43S435 NO BACKLIGHT ISSUE, LEDS TEST OK
    by thetonywarren
I have a TCL 43S435 with no backlights. I contacted ShopJimmy and they said power supply. I got replacement power supply, but still doesnt work. I have confirmed that there is an image with flashlight test. I have also verified that the led strips work when I probe them with LED tester. Any ideas would be helpful. I am also geting a double blink on the status led when trying to turn it on......Nothing on the power supply looks suspect, and caps look ok. Where should I start to test......Thanks!...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
    by rounin
    Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

    🛠 Original Issue
    The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

    Backlight Reflector Modification
    by x_orange90_x
I am writing this because I came looking for the same information but couldn't find anything. There are certain model tvs that will have 2 or more different backlight strip configurations and there is often no way to tell exactly what you have without disassembling the panel. Twice now I have run into this issue and ended up ordering the wrong sets BOTH times. The previous TV I reordered the correct ones and went on my way. The second one I had no patience for returns or reorders, let alone peeling the brand new strips back out and risk damaging them.

The number of LEDs per pair is...
