    Toshiba 19BV500B No Power

    Hi guys.

My kids small TV stopped working a few years back and has been gathering dust so I thought I'd try to fix it while I had some spare time. Also would give me an extra monitor for when the NFL season starts.

If I remember correctly it started with vertical lines on the screen but worked again when next plugged in. The next week it gave up completely. No standby light, nothing.

I can buy a new board for £20 or so but thought I'd give it a go and some experiance in case I have a problem with a more expensive item in the future.

    The board number is 17IPS16-3 V2 (140909)

I've attached a photo of the board. I don't see an bulging caps or any burning or leakage anywhere.

Any advice on where to start would be most appreciated. I have zero experiance with this kind of thing other that watching a few youtube clips and I once fixed a faulty PS3

Did you do simple test like checking the main AC fuse? The DCV on the main filter caps?

Yes, check the fuse. Sorry, I assume Direct Current Voltage. What are the main filter caps?

Those to large black caps in the Primary hot deadly side of the circuit. I hope you know the pre-caution when work in the primary side of the circuit.

          I assume you mean C848 & C849? These are both 18uF, 400V.

As for the precaution I have no idea. I assume to make sure to ground the black wire?

I'm pretty sure it is the power board that is goosed as I've tested the incoming voltage at 240V AC. But I have no outgoing AC.

Think I'll just buy a replacement board and be done with it.

            "I assume you mean C848 & C849? These are both 18uF, 400V." Yes.

"As for the precaution I have no idea. I assume to make sure to ground the black wire?" It means not to touch anything in the primary side with your hands or you body.
The primary GND ref point for the meter will be the negative leg of the main filter cap.

Okay. There is no voltage at either of these caps when plugged in.

              Would you suggest replacing them?
