interesting, i guess if i was faced with this I'd be thinking buffers or ymain.

What's tricky is the lines are around the centre, both sides of it so not a clear cut idea whether upper or lower which is why I was think ymain also a chance.

If I knew more about the samsungs it's be good. If it's possible to run upper and lower buffers on their own that'd be handy. the uper may be affecting the lower and vice versa or ymain.

Always a gamble, you can only try. Those vertical distortions on the right side are interesting. i guess you've tried the reseat thing for those boards

have you struck this before? That's a real surprise, glad I'm not working on it, would have been a disappointment.

What part of that fault nails it? Is it those weird vertical sections on the right?

It's a known issue with some Samsung panels, particularly the B and C series 1080p ones. It's a shame because these sets are otherwise quite reliable.

Thanks for the input, saved me being a total goose with bad info.

              cheers.

Bad YDRV ICs(buffers), bad soldering at YDRV ICs(buffers), or bad connection to plasma screen in the socket at YDRV module.

That is definitely a Panel fault

It is exactly how my friends panel died

                    by howardc64
                    • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                    • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                    • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                    • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
                    • Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                    by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                    tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                    by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions
                    by KYBOSH
I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
