42LG5000-ZA getting dark after 10 minutes

    Hi,

my 42LG5000 TV suddenly started getting very dark, as if I would turn down the backlight in the menu, but even darker than it would be on the lowest level.

This happens about 10 minutes after switching the TV on. The first 10 minutes the picture quality is as I'm used to.

I've already opened the device checking for obvious bad parts, but haven't seen any.

Some pictures of T-Con board, backlight inverter (master + slave) and the whole device are attached.

Hope somebody can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance!

    Flo

In this case it is possible to have insulation problem at CCFL PCB.

Can't see there being an issue with insulation TBH

          Ok couple of tests

First can you attach the TV to a PC or similar and use something like notepad to produce a completely white screen... Have a look for any darker areas when it faults.

Secondly can you get a hairdryer and heat up a board at a time to see if the fault occurs quicker, Start with the Tcon then the Main

The Picture "1.jpg" show the white screen when the TV is switched on, then after about 6 minutes it starts getting those vertical lines with flickering horizontal ones, as can be seen on picture "2.jpg".

I tried with the hair dryer, it's definitely the T-Con when getting hot, the error can be seen after 1-2 minutes of heating it up. Hair dryer on the main board didn't show that effect.

            Thanks again!

              Replace TCON

              No Problem

AS15-F fault or COF from LCD screen with bonding problem.

                    Yeah AS15 fault.

Got a couple of those Tcons here that had failed AS15... One the usual lighter screen and one with a darker screen

                      Hello Everyone,

This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....

sony kdl42w05a flickers the display after few minutes and after it comes dark
                      by Xristakis795
hello everyone, I have the above TV sony kdl 42w05a and the problem is that it works for a few minutes and then it does this flickering on the screen and the screen goes black
The problem is that when the screen goes black, the red LED does not flash to point me in the wrong direction, so I am asking someone experienced from you to tell me if they understand from the video where the error comes from
I have measured the voltage of the main capacitor 397 volts, the capacitor for the backlight 137 volts and the second one exactly 83 volts
                      I have 12.5 volts normally
                      as soon...

                      LG 65UK6090PUA - picture dark
                      by Danstona
Was watching this set, and suddenly it went dark. Picture is still visible, just very dark. Tried checking all settings, adjusting brightness to 100% no change. Reset through menus, no change.
bought used boards from ebay (power and input boards) replaced with same results, changing brightness does seem to have a slight affect.. but not to normal visibility of picture.
I'm handy, fixed TVs before.. I can't see any issues with boards... hoping someone can point me in the right direction to properly diagnose. I don't believe the LEDs are caput, since the picture is on and equal...

Hello there i have a Sharp 80" LDC that has some dark spots in the middle of the screen, since its a 80 inch need another person so hang it on the wall or move it around, so i hope the collective wisdom can help me to determine what is wrong, I've been doing some research online and there is next to nothing about this TV, i tend to believe that the spots are due the back films/diffuser sheets, that are bit dirty, or perhaps one or two LEDs being burned, but what throws me off is that the dark spots are more noticeable when the image is bit dark like night scenes, and also noticeable when...
