    Re: Vizio E470i no power

Just a quick note of sincere thanks to all who helped me with my tv.... I had an unexpected surgery, and didn't get to tell you that I learned some valuable stuff, and appreciate your kindness! I am planning to try a go at figuring out which LED(s) are faulty as soon as I recover my thinker!

Hey guys, anyone have these backlights available? Mines completely stripped down and i have bad strips and a few single ones not flashing on when I power on. Is there a way to fix these on the component level? Someone is offering repair service on E-bay. Thanks in advance!

              Re: Vizio E470i no power

I have this same TV and the same problem (when I turn on my TV the backlight comes on for a split second and then turns off). All of the voltages between the power supply and the main board look ok, and when the TV is powered on I can see the Vizio logo, and then "No channels programmed" on the screen (so the TV is actually powered on, just with no backlight).

If I measure vout1 and vout2 to the LEDs during power-on I see them both jump up to ~129v for a second (when the light comes on) and then drop to ~69v (but not 0). What does it mean? Does that mean I have bad LEDs?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like it. You probably get the about same readings without (no load) the LED connector in place, right?

Yes, I get ~exactly the same voltages (up to ~129v then down to ~69v) without the LEDs connected.

Know where I can get a set of LED strips that are in stock?

These are the strips I need and they're out of stock at ShopJimmy.
                      http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6916l-11...-12-strips.htm

I checked eBay but the cheapest is $18.95 PER STRIP (and there are 12 strips - ugh).

Any other source that has them in stock?

He didn't buy replacement strips. He repaired his existing strips by soldering in new LEDs. I'd rather replace all my strips. Still looking for a source...

Maybe searching online for an identical model as yours but cracked screen could be the cheapest option.

I have one of these E470i-A0 with two LEDs out. Does anyone know of a source for the LEDs (components, not strips)? I've looked at both Digikey and Mouser, but I have yet to be able to sift through all the available devices. These devices have the large pad on the anode (+ side) of the LED. The LED size is 2.8mm x 3.5mm x 0.65mm.

                                Re: Vizio E470i no power

Can anyone tell me in what order the diffusion layers go (between the LEDs and the lcd panel)? I took the thing apart to repair the LEDs and can't remember in what order to put it back together, lol! I should've taken pictures.

There are 2 thin white plastic sheets, a thin highly reflective sheet, and a thick white plastic board. What order do they go in, from LEDs upward?

                                Your help is greatly appreciated!

                                  Re: Vizio E470i no power

I think I figured it out. I believe it goes - thick plastic board, thin plastic sheet, prism reflective sheet, thin plastic sheet (from LEDs upward).

My guess is based on the diagram in Figure 4 on page 2 here: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...214da42065.pdf

I put the tv back together this way and I'm happy with the way it looks

Special thanks to @nicegut for the help!

I came into this E470i-AO. I've replaced both boards(PSU and main) of this TV and I cant get it to Power up at all. Will a bad LED strip cause the TV to not power on at all on this TV?

Nope no indicator lights at all. Normally, most Tv's will at least light up the indicator light, but even that's not coming.

I do have a meter, but not very good with it lol.

Well, at this point you need to upload good clear pictures of the top and bottom side of your power supply board, you will need to test Voltages on the connector that goes to the main board.
