You could try reseating the lower f buffers ribbons.

Is the big surface mount resistor near that connector open?
          It'll be around 1-5 ohms.
          Picture will help.

Common issue I'm sorry to say--Especially on 'D' series and 'E' series Sams.....

I had a run of about 6 of these model sets--with this exact fault! BAD week that was!

The failure is a chip which is on a Mylar film thats attached to the glass of the plasma panel, and due to the way these things are made, is Unreplaceable--Its Made as part of the plasma panel. They are known as Chip On Film, or COF chips.

There are around 10 or 15 (depending on size and resolution) of these chips along the bottom edge of the panel, a failure in any one will give a vertical problem in line with the faulty chip. The give-away statement in your case is '2" vertical black bar from top to bottom'

Unlike some makes, Sams. dont have fusible-resistors associated with these chips as far as I'm aware.
--Seeing its stuffed, you might as well strip off the heatsink (ally strip along bottom edge and examine these chips--just for the education, you may also find a burned spot on one that's in line with your black bar....
