    50PFP5332D Philips - worth fixing?

    Hey y'all.

    Total newbie here. Have some electronic experience and know my way around a dmm.

    Have this super nice 50 inch plasma 50PFP5332D TV that is acting not so nice. Was given as a project since owner didn't want to mess with it and just went ahead and bought a nice LCD. Have done some homework on this site and have so far determined that the power supply is putting out correct voltages. No bulged caps or weird nonsense. Shows heartbeat pulse on controller board and blue light comes on in front. Both relays click in and both y & x mains make their characteristic high volt humming noises. Disconnected y-main and powered up - no picture. I am pretty sure y main is cooked since the two resistors between the buffer connectors have been crackelacktically cooked. So no go with x-main connected. And from what I understand, screen should light up with x (z?) Main connected. Not really sure how to test for sound throughput since I don't know whether or not TV picks an active input automatically or if I'd need a remote to switch it.

    Do I have any way to make sure this panel would still work before replacing boards and finding out there's no gas in it? It looks flawless. No cracks or other weirdness, but it not lighting up with x (z?) Connected makes me a bit hesitant. Could be bad x (z?) As well but not sure how to go about troubleshooting it. Fuse is Ok and supply is pushing some 200 someodd volt in that direction..

    Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

      More than likely your y-sus and buffers.
      This is effectively a Samsung PS50Q97HD but wrapped up in Philips clothes.

      You'll probably find shorts on the lower heatsink on ysus and shorts on the top
      2 buffer ICs, it's an expensive fix even if you're doing it at component level.

      You need to have decent soldering experience if you want to repair the buffers.

          Much appreciate the reply. Looked into getting y-main repaired and finding some working buffers. I think I figured out that that's relatively costly. But even despite the cost, would it be worth it considering the screen doesn't light up with the y circuitry disconnected? And just the z connected to the power supply? Or could fried y boards cause the screen not to light up with just the z connected? Its a nice TV and I'd like to try and salvage it..

              The y makes the screen glow not the z.

                      Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

                      It does power up when pressing the power button.

                      I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
                      Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

                      Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

                      Hi all, I picked up a liquid damaged Asus TUF Gaming F15, does not power on, model FX506HM-HN004T.

                      Ive gone as far as removing the case and doing a visual check, there is no visible corrision, upon plugging in the power brick a single led light shows that power is plugged in, but no display or fans, the PCH chipset gets warm/hot to the touch, could this mean its not fixable or do I proceed and remove the motherboard completely and check further for shorts etc, failing that should I just take it to a service centre and go from there

                      what would you do? my skillset is...

                      Hi all,

                      Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
                      As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.

                      Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug...

                      I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
                      When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
                      I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
                      From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
                      I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
                      Somewhere on the way the error got worse, because at the moment the...

                      Acer Predator Helios 300 - will not power up if battery is CONNECTED

                      This was a no power initially. Thanks to your help, I discovered it was the first mosfet, so I replaced. Now, the device will power up only if the battery is NOT connected. As soon as I connect the battery, it shuts off. If I connected the battery while the device is off, it simply will not respond to the power button. I replaced the battery, and while I suppose the new battery could be faulty, I'm assuming it is not. I'm having the same behavior with the new battery. I measure .2v at the charging coil. Manually applying power to the + and - at the battery header, there is no charging happening....
