LG 60PZ550 Plasma keeps turning off

Hello everybody, I have a LG 60PZ550 Plasma TV that keeps turning off by it self 1-2 mins after turning it on. Any ideas what can be causing this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

You'll need to monitor Vs, Va, VSC, -Vy, and VZ-Bias as well as check PS-On and Vs-On etc....
--One or more of those should give you a clue, assuming you've checked for the obvious such as dry-joints on the ERC coils etc....

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma keeps turning off

Has there been any updates on this thread? I have a 60PZ550 that is having similar behavior issues. Originally it would black out the screen for a few seconds (no sound/picture for appx 3-4 seconds) and come back on (but no click and standby light). This was occurring between every 30-60 minutes and right when I took it apart, was doing it every 30-60 seconds.

I took the unit down (from the wall) and apart and looked for bad caps / burned (obvious) physical damage and found none. I cleaned all the dust out and re-assembled.

Now the unit has good/bad days where it "just works" some days, and other days it will decide to randomly turn off (different from original issue), where the actual stand-by light comes on accompanied by the audible "click" of the set turning off. This sometimes occurs every 30-60 minutes and sometimes will happen 3-4 times a minute.

I have tried other options, such as: Using different HDMI input, using the built-in-TV-tuner, hiding the remotes (incase false input from a remote), factory reset (via menu).

I feel I have a failing component here and I have NO CLUE how to even diagnose this.

                  Anyone have any suggestions?

                    Read alastairs post above.

Alternatively connect these 2 holes beside r51 and r52 on the control board with a bit of wire, paper clip etc.

Disconnect the lvds cable (the one with the blue tab also in the picture.

                    Power on the tv.
You will get test patterns, does the fault occur?

it will be a few weeks until I can perform this, but I'll post back my results when I get them. Software reset (again) via menu and it has been working 2 days no problem until just a few minutes ago (where it turned off and on for no apparent reasons)

Ok, So TV finally died fully (will making troubleshooting easier).. Actually the Panel still seems to light up, but no image or sound. Tried the R51-52 Jumper trick with the LVDS cable unplugged.. It does display a set of test patterns on the panel, so this is good. Now I'm guessing its either the Input board (the big board all the way on the right with all the external plugs), or the power to the input board..

What is my next step here..

                        Thanks!

You have a faulty main AV board.
(The one you plug your hdmi cables etc into)

Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Yes, after letting the TV sit on for a while it actually did come back on (after the set warmed up).. Is it possible the main chip (under the big black heat sink) needs to be reflowed?

you could give it a try.

If it works; you could see if you can find someone to reball the chip (assuming your not able to do it yourself)

                                  Product: Samsung Plasma TV (PN51F5300)

                                  Initial symptoms:
In-laws were downstairs watching tv when they heard a pop and the screen went out.
When resetting power and turning on again, front light blinks red a few seconds and goes out: tv is otherwise unresponsive until power is cycled again.

Initial investigation: Remove back from Plasma TV, armed with DMM.
No obvious capacitor bulging on any visible boards.
Power connected, turned on: green LED on main board repeats a pattern of short-long (1 second total) on, one second off. Repeats five times....

Set was manufactured in 2012. I'm trying to diagnose where the problem is. I am assuming it is over-currenting after heating up? Display looks fine until it decides to shutdown. If I keep turning it on, it will eventually refuse to power up and requires unplugging to get it to respond again.

I originally thought there would be some easily detected bad electrolytic capacitors, but I don't see the telltale signs. There might be some very minimal bulging on one of the x buffer board. BN96-22092A (LJ92-01852A).

It is turning on and off within a second and soon it turns off....
