Replacing a LCD panel possible? Interchangeable?

Hey guys , i got a beginners question about repairing the LCD panel. Maybe a dumb question but are lcd panels from the same brand interchangeable?

I was working on a 37" Philips ambilight tv which has a AUO lcd panel and unfortunately i "broke" 1 of the tab bonds when i reassembled the tv. Its not cracked but its not glued to the small print anymore….. ( Beginners mistake ).

I also have a Samsung 37" which also has a AUO lcd panel , same layout and model so i thought , lets try and see what happens if i place that LCD panel in the philips tv. ( Even the screw holes and design was the same , thats why i took the guess ).

Philips tv turns on and the backlight + lcd light up but i don't get a image. Can i fix this or is this firmware in the LCD panel that says " i don't know this T-con " ? If so , is it like a "bios" that i can replace from the old panel?

I searched the forum for tab bond repair but nobody replaced/glued a tab back to the print ….. Any tips?

OK there will be a sticker on each chassis of the panel, Do they match exactly?

Are the TCON model and revision numbers the same?

No , they are different T-Con boards! I think thats the problem , lcd panel does not know the TCon. Getting different signals i guess.

Indeed, Need the correct TCON for the panel, If the mainboard is the same swapping for the correct TCON should work

Well , there must be a reason that the LCD panel does not work.

If you just look at the Philips tv situation. Only difference in the philips tv atm is the lcd panel but the panel does not show a picture , only lights up. Is it a chip in the small print which is attached to the panel or? Or is it a completely different panel which looks visually the same?

                So, the samsung worked before?
And the Philips worked before you tore the tab?

BenQ GW2450HM - Panel is partially dimmed, works for 2 hours after replacing few caps
                  by gumball
Issue: Panel is partially dark or dimmed, left side is okay (see photos attached).

Trial: Replaced three visibly bad capacitors on the power supply board (see photos).

First result: Monitor worked for two hours only. Two capacitors bulged again.

Diagnosis: After replacing those capacitors the monitor was connected via HDMI cable to a laptop. Laptop was connected to power supply and charging. Power cable was removed from the laptop end and put back. Maybe this was a coincidence but since unplugging the power cable it was noted that the panel had darkened...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                  by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                  by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                  tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....
