    Vizio E320AR

    Hello!

I've got a Vizio 32" that does absolutely nothing. Orange standby light doesn't even come on. I took it apart and checked for +5v at the power supply connector to no avail. The 82uF 450v reads 362v if that helps at all. I'd like to know where to proceed from here.

    Thanks!

OK, I do not see 5V label for the connector of the power supply board going to the main board.
There is 3.3V pin which is stand by Voltage and the PS-ON pin next to it, you must be getting the 3.3V and the PS-ON signal form the main board otherwise you will not have PFC Voltage of 362VDC on the two legs of the main filter cap.
We need to see the whole back side of the TV.

Yup, getting 3.28v at the 3.3v leg.

Good, the standby power supply is working.
What do you have on the PS-ON pin?
I think you have main board problem.

PS-ON seems to be rising to about .4v and then falling to 0 over and over again.

OK, that does not make sense because you do have 362VDC on the main cap, to have that Voltage, the PS-ON mus be present.
At this point we do know that you do have main board problem.

Well before I go purchasing a main board, is there a way for me to bench test the supply/inverters and make sure the backlight works?

                Yes you can.
First you have to disconnect the cable between the main board and the power supply board, then connect 100~330 Ohm 1/4W resistor between PS-ON pin and the 3.3V pin, the second 100~330 Ohm 1/4W resistor between ON/OFF pin and 3.3V pin.
Plug the TV into the outlet then you should see the backlights come on and stay on.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                    by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
