After a recent power outage my TV is showing no signs of life, so i decided to open it up and found this.



Will replacing it hopefully restore power to my tv? :s

Yes, that fuse is blown.

However, it's also possible that something else in the PSU has blown too, and has caused the fuse to blow.

Sometimes when there is a power outage, the power does not just go off cleanly. There can be voltage spikes or other crap on the line just before it goes off, and this can damage things.

Try a new fuse, but be prepared to dig deeper if it blows again.

Can you also upload photos of your power supply as well?

When the fuse is blackened like that, you have something that is/are shorted out badly.
I would trace the circuits really well and also use lamp in series with the unit you are working on.

Hey bud, so your saying replacing the fuse is basically useless right now as something else is wrong?

Yes, a blown fuse that's black inside like that typically means something is dead shorted on the primary side of the PSU, so replacing the fuse is probably just a waste of time at this point. You should check the primary side components for shorts first, replace anything shorted, then power up with new fuse and an inline lightbulb (see 'dim bulb tester') to make sure you got everything.

Is it safe to put a 4A 250v fuse into the TV instead of the original which was 4A 125V?
I literally cannot find a 125v ANYWHERE near me, only 250v's.
Also, where in the hell is the download link on the Elektrotanya site? I can't find it anywhere lol

Yes there is no problem with a 250V fuse. If anything, it is better.

On the elektrotanya website you need to WAIT untill the download link appears! Did you check for any bulged capacitors?

Yeah, sometimes it takes a little while for the link to show (sometimes even 30 seconds or so) but also make sure you aren't running adblock or noscript on their website, it can interfere with the download page too.

Well, of course the fuse blew when i plugged it in. Am i safe to just buy a whole new main board and replace it and it should work?

Just a small point to potentially save you some headaches in finding a replacement...you're not looking for a "main board" - in TV parlance that would be the one with the video and audio connections on it.

as well.
They don't seem to have any in stock though. Might be quicker to fix this one.

In this case, the PSU and the A/V connectors are actually on the same board. ShopJimmy calls it a "Main Board". A bit silly, I suppose, but yeah...
