    LC401EM2F hit by lightning

First let me say I am no repair technician by any means. I understand what the individual components do but that's about it.

I have an LC401EM2F that was hit by lightning a few days ago. The number on the board is BA01P0F0103 3. It does nothing. I have no standby light, no noise when I turn it on, nothing. The fuse is NOT blown. The only visual damage I see is c1733 on the backside of the board. I assume this is a capacitor but it's so small I almost need a magnifying glass to see what's left of it. Can this small part be bought and replaced and can someone tell me what part to get?

I have also found 3 glass diodes that test funny. They test like they are shorted. When I get home this afternoon I plan on removing them and testing them.

I'm on my phone and it won't let me upload any pics so that will have to wait til I get home.

Yeah pics will be a great help.

Glass diodes = Zener or Schottky didoes

Get some pics up and get your multimeter ready

I used a different browser and it let me upload pics. I can take better pics in the daylight this afternoon if needed.

That part looks to be a resistor--not a cap....

You'll need to check for o/c fuses, short MOSFETS, --Lightning-strikes tend to take shortest path to earth--so consider Where the lightning Entered and left the set, say via antenna (mainboard prob fried) then to PSU (prob fried too) and out to mains....

Luckily--in UK we dont see many sets killed this way--When I do, I usually don't bother--Too much trouble/expense for not enough gain.

It may be uneconomical depending on Make and cost of equivalent replacement....

I thought the c stood for capacitor. Shows how much I know. Lol

Yes ,{c stood for capacitor} is C1733. But I think your finger nail maybe have infection.

c1733 is 0.1uf noise bypassing cap..... you gonna have more big problem .....like some where shorted......

Where could I get one of these capacitors?

Believe or not , just solder away that cap, You do not need it at all. See if the cap is shorted, if yes, you just fix another TV. If no, you have long way to go......

I'll try that tonight and see what happens. I'm sure there's more to fix but I'm in no hurry and I like learning and fixing things so.....

So I desoldered the blown cap and then lifted a leg on the three zener diodes and checked them. D614 shows a dead short. What diode do I need to get and what else do I need to check?

Does anybody at least have a schematic or drawing or something to tell me what each part is?

You should see "get the manual'

"This file is downloadable free of charge: Get Manual

I had to sit there and wait for 10 or 15 seconds before "get manual" showed up. Thanks.

Well when I do a search for this part number NDTB024BST26 which is D614 all I get is a bunch of service manuals with this part number in them. If I can't get parts for it then I'll just chunk it in the trash.

                                    24BSB-T26 = NDTB024BST26
                                    a 24V zener diode.

                                    google for 24bsb zener

Check around the circuit, there may be more bad. Also verify bad components out of circuit too.

How do you know that's what it is? Did you look it up somewhere or is this common knowledge for people who know electronics? Any 24 v zener diode will work? I've checked every diode around that one and checked several more out of circuit and found one that reads .1xx. I'm gonna replace that one too. Next I'm going to check mosfets and transistors. I found a repair kit at shopjimmy.Com and I'm making sure to check everything that comes in that kit also. Thank you!
